Between Events P and Q, the proper time is measured in the frame where the time-like vector from P to Q is stationary, thus Δt' in the frame S' is the proper time. And the proper time is shorter than any other time, like Δt measured in the frame S where the time-like vector from P to Q is seen as moving at speed v = 0.5c.

This is the picture where the red horizontal axis is spatial and the red vertical axis is time for the coordinates of the S frame.

Wonderful visualization showing which browsers support which features

of the new HTML standard. Interesting to see what is and is not

supported, also how the feature integration has changed over time.

"Each browser is represented with a tile on the bar and gets an equal

width of space, so if you see a bar that is full, that means that

feature has universal support among all the 8 browsers."

Worth playing with, and absolutely necessary for folks planning for

new web designs and considering future accessibility. For more

information on HTML5 see the W3C page and a few of these other

resources.

I have been particularly interested in the changes in online videos as

a result of the new standard, and how this has lessened the need for

Flash.

Although it’s still early in the evolution of HTML5, we’ve started to receive many requests to develop data visualization projects in HTML5 instead of Flash.

In most cases, these requests have been related to a desire to reach a wider audience, and the belief that HTML5 will be more compatible than Flash. We’ve also heard a lot of people mention that they need to have their visualizations work on the iPad.

These are reasonable expectations and requests, so we did some research to find out exactly which audiences we could reach by deploying a large data visualization project in HTML5. We also took a look at how the iPad could influence the experience.

You can read more about our research, and explore a serious amount of reader feedback on this topic, on our blog:
