The DESS HSMG was a niche weapon designed for long term storage. With the magazine removed, the receiver became an environmentally sealed container, protecting the internals from the surrounding conditions. This, combined with being made from highly durable materials that were particularly resistant to corrosion and an unnecessarily robust structure, the DESS (Durable Environmentally Sealed Storage) HSMG was purportedly apocalypse proof. The primary marketing angle of the DESS was as a weapon for backyard bomb shelters and for survivalists. It was also offered to the military as a weapon that could be airdropped behind any lines for resistance efforts, but this failed to get a military foothold. The DESS was offered in large pistol calibres as an attempt to round out its "end of the world" image with supposed all-around utility cartridges.
I would think/search for actual caliber that this gun could use buuuut, lets just say its bigger then 9mm/45. but smaller then 5.56. K.Bye.

Here's my entry for the HSMG Soaper's Showcase, which won best appearance in the Melt and Pour category. It's much more 3 dimensional than it looks here since I hand painted the grass in 2 layers, and the clouds overlap, but the real star of the soap is the bicycle. Who doesn't love bikes? :)

The new Harbinger SMG Prototype is shown here in attached and stand alone modes.
The HSMG is unique in that it uses the trigger as it's fire selector. However the fore grip position affects how it works.
Foregrip up + Trigger pulled = Full Auto
Foregrip up + Trigger pushed = SemiAuto
Foregrip down + Either = Full Auto
Also, there is a button for the laser sight integrated into the foregrip.
It is shown chambered in 9mm with a 30 round mag.
Note: A charging handle and possibly an actual saftey are missing and I am aware. Iron sights are not available. And I'm thinking of beefing up the front clip connection.

if you want to get technical, the HSMG isnt a sub machinegun, as it fires 7.62x45mm rounds, but it plays the role of one. compact, easy to use, and as accurate as you can get with the short barrel.
I bought these smd resistors in a set, had some dirt cheap LEDs and a piece of pcb left over, so I thought I'd make a LED bar (CC for a change). Tested at every step, finally it was plugged to the tiny2313 board that was pretending to be a free running binary counter. I learned some things..
- Rotary tool and this thin pcb material don't really mix
- My cheap superglue won't stick to plastic, but glues fingers
- Don't forget to clean the copper
- I can easily attach this size parts to tinned pads with a mini iron at 0.5s/joint
- The mini iron runs out of steam with a few traces and a cable
- I really should get back to the toner transfer again
- Hot air is so convenient

The Heavy Support Machine Gun was built in 2032. It has a 7.62x54mm cartridge some similar to the PKM but a higher rate of fire...Lower jamming rate. Has more advanced and rugged parts and has less recoil. Seen with Russian troops.
