The positive side of being homebound due to the virus is that I can get some photo organization done and rediscover older shots that I've completely forgotten about. I tend cull first, pick a very few favorites to process and then move on to my next photo shoot. As such, I have a ton of material to keep me busy in my old age. Perfect for these times. This is a Black-necked Stilt, which I think was photographed in the Everglades. It is the only time that I've seen one with prey of this size. It lined up nicely with the shades on the water.

Take care everyone. I am not infected but staying inside as much as I can bear to avoid being so. Stay safe everyone and best wishes to everyone who is fighting this themselves of has friends or family in the line of fire. Good luck, Mike

stay safe and tell the ones closest to you that you love them. life is short and this year has gone a long way to remind many of us of this. May 2021 be better for us all ! <3

This past weekend, I finally left the city. I had been homebound since returning at the end of July and I was desperately missing the road. It was only an overnight, but it was very needed.

Most of the weekend was spent at the Big Bend Wildlife Area in Douglas County. I hiked four miles in, set up camp, and just enjoyed the most wonderful sunset I've seen in years.

At night, the coyotes on the surrounding hills serenaded me.

This is a house I've photographed several times before. It's not in the Wildlife Area, but is something I pass on the way there. Each time, I think it looks more dilapidated than the last time, but when I look at my first photos of it, the place is basically unchanged. I guess I yern for entropy.

September 2021

We've gotten so much rain lately, that, between the rain and high heat, I've been pretty much homebound. Keeping myself contented by going through the archives and processing photos that I didn't like enough the first time around... :)

The ache for home lives in all of us, The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.

Saw these shepherds while I was returning from an outing around 150 Kms from Bangalore, Somewhere around the distant mountains was where they lived. Long journey after a hard day's work.

From my holiday in Travemünde and I remember well taking this shot as I nearly got into trouble, so with my Tamron 150-600mm I was snapping off one or two of this lifeboat, when done I lowered my camera to the face of a rather annoyed Mother, who instantly accused me of taking photos of her son, who was changing his shirt right below my point of vision on the promenade, of whom I initially didn't notice, I said no I was taking a shot of that boat, pointing to it, of which she turned around, saw said boat and then started laughing, all good.

However it is something to note my fellow photographers, be bloody careful in public places, scan around first as whilst the lady saw the funny side of the situation, it could easily have turned nasty. I would NEVER take photos of children in public places, I absolutely disagree with that practice unless it was an actual professional shoot/paid assignment. It happened to another photographer I knew, who was photographing a local river area, where also families were congregated and an angry Father, verbally tore into him thinking he was taking photos of the kids.

So word of warning, please be careful!

I hope everyone is well and so as always thank you! :)
