For the next few days I'll show you some photographs from the Tarkine region in northwest Tasmania. We are in the forest walking towards an incredible formation known as the Trowutta Arch. This photograph is my attempt to capture something of the spirit of this place. Because this forest is truly alive!
My title is not an intended pun, but it is true that since the early 1990s there has been a strong environmental struggle to see the Tarkine recognised as a World Heritage Area. The purpose for this is to protect the forests. I don't intend to labour the debate here, but needless to say, sections of the old forest like this are in no danger at all from either logging or mining. They are universally recognised as places of great importance. But there are disputed areas that continue to be an ongoing battle between forestry, mining and conservation interests. It will be interesting to see how it is resolved.
The best form of protection for natural beauty is to show people photographs of places like this. It feels like home.
This is my first picture done on my new computer! What a nightmare trying to get everything all set up again along with bad internet connection for past 2 weeks! Wouldn't wish this on anybody :) Hope everything is back to normal in next few days or so :) Hope to get back with all my flickr friends in next few days also, missed all of your beautiful pictures :)
An outtake from an October walk and the source image for the previous 'day-for-night'. Both were jpegs re-edited on Photopea (worth checking out when you have a chance), since I was away from my PC when boredom struck.

The city wall of Pienza is a very good spot to "spy" the surrounding hills around the city. I learned to use a 300 mm lens which makes detailed pictures possible with all kind of lines and objects in the landscape. Pienza, 2019.

Vom vielen Regen ist es in diesem "Sommer" sehr grün, auch wenn es schon etwas herbstlich anmutet an manchen Tagen. Dort, wo die Reben keinen Schaden erlitten haben, brauchen sie bis zur Lese noch eine Weile.

From our walk in the woods today, spring marches on. We see the difference daily, the beautiful spring greens, the little anemones and even our first bluebell. We are so lucky to be close to nature, especially at this time.

70815 heads into the setting sun at Greenloaning with Blueton Burn providing a delicious backdrop. The semaphores provide a lovely Frame as the Hog gives a squirt of power to keep the 6R38 1405 Aberdeen to Irvine up to speed.
The passing loops have been disconnected from the highland main line but the small bracket signal remains, who knows for how much longer.
Does anyone know the history of the building on the hill in this shot ?
