A tranquil aerial view of a rewetted peatland, where lush greenery meets still waters under a dramatic sky. Once drained, this restored ecosystem is now a thriving habitat and a key ally in climate mitigation. The mirrored clouds on the water’s surface contrast with ghostly tree stumps, symbolizing past exploitation and current hope.

In Maharashtra, near Koyna. Lots of wind turbines dot the landscape there.

[Buildings Like Trees, Cities Like Forests]

@University of San Carlos - TC, Cebu City

Three of the most significant issues in the relationship between trees and buildings are structural, environmental and aesthetic ones; all concern both buildings and trees. The right relationships produce joy, the alternative can be painful.Trees are amongst the most permanent and significant features in our towns and countryside.

Trees in urban areas improve the environmental quality of the environment in a number of ways. Trees absorb noise and pollution, provide oxygen and moisture, provide privacy and can help stabilise land. It is important when trees or shrubs are planted that care is taken in the siting, selection and planting of trees and shrubs. A tree or hedge should not threaten any building or cause a nuisance that could result in the loss of the tree and damage to buildings or structures.

When the architect and theorist Le Corbusier imagined the future of cities from the vantage of the early 20th century, he foresaw a new industrial aesthetic that would free design from the constraints of the natural world. For Le Corbusier, the city was “a human operation directed against nature” and the house was “a machine for living in.” He imagined architecture worldwide shaped by a “mass production spirit.” The ideal: “One single building for all nations and climates.” Le Corbusier’s friends dismissed his futuristic ideas. “All this is for the year 2000,” they said.

6D & 200L | in the backyard (great song to match: youtu.be/Z8O_XEggIMs)

I first spotted this pond with its interesting looking sculptures during the day in the Green Futures field. It wasn't obvious if the sculptures contained candles or were lanterns so I came back at sunset. At night it looked really magical. I've since done some googling and found that this is a garden sculpture by Hortisculpures.

What keeps on being ignored in media reports about the many conflicts sweeping the Middle East is that -- apart from the obvious "New Great Game" is that it's often to do with natural resources.. not just oil. Often it's also about the rivers and springs.

Though herewith let's maybe just focus on Syria:

Today our team visited Wings of the Ocean in Santa Cruz de Tenerife! We met their amazing team and got a chance to see Kraken- their 3-masted ship!🙏

The Kraken is used to sail in the Atlantic ocean, visiting different islands such as Madeira, Selvagens, Canaries, Azores...

With the help of their amazing volunteer crew, they wish to make an impact on the long run. They are trying to:

🔹Initiate systematic depollution, by encouraging local initiatives,

🔹Raise awareness about the impact of plastic waste at sea,

🔹Teach younger generations about plastic pollution and its consequences,

🔹Collaborate with local initiatives to have actions all year long.

Introduced in 2021 by ESA’s Director General Josef Aschbacher, ESA Accelerators – Space for a Green Future, Rapid and Resilient Crisis Response and the Protection of Space Assets – were identified as the main thematic areas of action on how to drive Europe’s innovation and use of space to solve wider societal issues.

In the small town of Port Augusta, SA, residents have been dealing with the coal-dust and stench from the closed down coal-fired power plant for years. They're (literally) sick and tired of of it, and they're not taking it anymore. The town has come together to demand the site - including Bird Lake on this photo - be remediated. ⠀ Photo by Zoe Deans / Greenpeace⠀ ⠀ #dustfree #cleanenergy #gogreen #coaltosolar #freshstart #portrenewable #renewaugusta #greenfuture

I've been away for nearly a week now, I was at Glastonbury Festival which is a huge music and arts festival. Glastonbury is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world with 177 000 people attending this year. I have many, many photos I took whilst there and will be putting some of them on my photostream over the next few days.

This picture was taken on sunny Sunday, I saw these bright purple flowers in the Green Futures field so just had to get a shot for Purple Tuesday!

Happy Purple Tuesday!

and

Happy Glastonbury Festival 2011!

This is fun ... making my own small planets, this planet is "wind power planet", hopefully theres a nice backwind on that planet ... anyway ... save the earth - build a windmill - use only green power from reusable/renewable sources
