This Green Heron wasn't the slightest bit bothered by walkers, joggers and cyclists using a path only a few feet away from where it was busy hunting for tasty treats along the edge of one of the lakes at Regional Lakes Park, Fort Myers.

This is another larch macro.

New leaves of the King Fern (Angiopteris evecta). The King Fern is also called the Giant Fern. The fronds of the King Fern, as can be imagined, are massive, over five metres long, arching and semi-weeping. These fronds are the largest in the world. Their enormous size means they have to live in very wet areas to retain turgor to keep their fronds erect. This plant is very restricted in where it can live, which is usually only near waterfalls, along creeks and in gullies in well-developed rainforest. @Hershey Gardens

Hidden in the forests of the Wiehengebirge and filled with emerald-green water this pond has a magic touch. We used the sunny Sunday for an extended hiking trip in the area. The place is connected with many stories, the old folks still talk about a nazi-treasure being sunk in the waters in the dying stages of WWII.
