Edna G is a tugboat which worked the Great Lakes and is now preserved as a museum ship. Greatsinger, president of the railroad. - Wikipedia
The Philip R. Clarke was built for the Pittsburgh Steamship Company in 1952 by the American Shipbuilding Co. at Lorain, Ohio. She has 23 hatches on deck that open into 7 cargo holds. That allows the Clarke to carry up to 25,300 tons of cargo. Along with her sister ships, the Arthur M. Anderson and Cason J. Callaway, she was lengthened by 120 feet in 1974. That put each of them at their current length of 767 feet. A bow-thruster was added in 1966 and a stern-thruster was installed in 1988. Each of these devices allows the Clarke greater side-to-side maneuverability while navigating in tight harbor conditions and narrow rivers. The major feature observable on her deck is a 262 foot self unloader, installed in 1982. That allows the boat to discharge her own cargo without using equipment on shore. The Clarke is owned and operated by USS Great Lakes Fleet, Inc. - Duluth Shipping News

Home-ported at Two Harbors, Minnesota, Edna G moved ships and barges carrying iron ore and taconite from the Mesabi Range and other smaller sites in the Iron Range region of northeast Minnesota. She spent her entire working career at Two Harbors with the exception of World War I (1917–1919) when she served on the eastern seaboard. She was out of service from 1931 to 1933 due to the depression.

DMIR tug Edna G. was built in 1896 by the Cleveland Ohio Ship Building company. She was one of the most powerful tugs of the time. The tug is 110 feet long, 23 feet across the beam and draws 15.5 feet of water. She was named after the daughter of then president of the railroad Jacob Greatsinger. She operated out of Two Harbors all her life, except for two years 1917-1919, during WWI when the government requisitioned her to move barges and troop ships out on the east coast. The tug was built with a steel deck and hull, but the super-structure was wood. The government had the steel super-structure installed before taking the tug to the east coast. Retired in 1981.

The Edna G., a coal-fed, steam-powered tugboat was built in 1896 by the Cleveland Ship Building Company. The Edna G. was named after Edna Greatsinger, daughter of Jacob L. Greatsinger then president of the Duluth & Iron Range Railroad. The Edna G. served the ore ships at the Two Harbors ore docks. During World War I, the tugboat was pressed into government service for two years on the east coast. In 1974, the Edna G. was designated a National Historic Site as the only steam powered tugboat on the Great Lakes. The 110- feet long tugboat was retired in 1981. In 1994, the Edna G. was fully restored. The Edna G. is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hanus G. Johansen is a Faroese singer, composer and guitar player from Klaksvík. He has composed melodies for many poems by Poul F. Joensen, who was a famous poet from Sumba, living most of his life in the village Froðba in Suðuroy, Faroe Islands. Hanus made the poems of Poul F. (as he normally is called) available also for people who don't read poems. He made an album in 1988, which he called: "Gaman og álvara - Hanus syngur Poul F."
This photo was taken in Stóra Pakkhús in Vágur on the 20th of March 2010 at a consert with Hanus G. Johansen. It was a very good consert. He was with his very special and in the Faroe Islands well known voice, playing his guitar. Sometimes he sang without any instruments, very good. Hanus has composed many melodies for poems by not only Poul F. but also by Janus Djurhuus, Hans Andrias Djurhuus, Tummas Napoleon Djurhuus and others. He has also composed melodies for poems by the Norwegian poem Jakob Sande, he sang one poem by Sande at the consert in Stóra Pakkhús.
Hanus has been singing with Faroese bands like Frændur and Aldubáran.

Producer Bobby Martin Worked for Columbia Records, Capitol Records, and Warner Bros Records only to mention a few. Barbra Streisand was signed with Colombia records years ago. This Legendary Grammy Award Winning Producer arranged and produced music for all of the major record labels. Bobby Martin produced hit songs at A&M Records with quincy Jones. He's worked with nearly everybody that's in the music business. In this photo it appears that Barbra Streisand came in the recording studio to watch Bobby Martin and Benny Golson produce an album together. Years later Bobby Martin received a phone call from Barbra Streisand and her manager. Bobby Martin was asked to producer Barbra Streisands CD, yet they were not able to come to an agreement on costs for the recording session. Producer Bobby Martin was very disappointed yet flattered to know that Barbra Streisands record label had 100% trust and faith in him and his productions. It's not every day that you are approached to record and produce The Great Barbra Streisand, she is a great singer and actor! At that time Barbra Streisand was known for performing live and selling out the biggest concerts in the world! She was the top performer around the whole world! Bobby Martin said Barbra Streisand is one of the most respectful recording artists/singers that he's ever known!
I was walking down W. 57th St. when I first heard a marvelous baritone singing voice from across the street, then marvelous trumpet playing. The voice alternated with the trumpet regularly. I was mystified! It was already almost 9pm, well past the time one might expect to hear music played by buskers in the street. I crossed in mid-block, not wanting to miss this musical event by going all the way to the corner: I was dying of curiosity.
I soon came upon the "source" of the music: a man whose name, I later learned, is Benjamin Norris, who was singing and playing from a hymnal, holding it in one hand, while playing his trumpet in the other. I took in his vocal and instrumental music from a respectful distance, until he took a break to move onto the next hymn. Benjamin rolled his r's as he sang, in a way that reminded me of a Scottish accent, but spoke standard American English. I learned that he hails from Edgewater, NJ and that he'd had an earlier rehearsal on the block and was busking there for the first time. I asked if I could take his picture as he performed and he agreed. When I asked if I could post his photos on the internet, he again agreed. I listened for a while, taking pictures as he alternated verses between his vocal and instrumental interpretation of the hymns. When I spoke to him again before leaving, telling him how truly great I thought he was, he said, "God has been good to me..."
Notes on some cultural clues: Benjamin is singing and playing from the Cokesbury Worship Hymnal, first published in 1928. I discovered that Cokesbury is the name of one of the first Methodist Church communities in the US. In the course of my research, I discovered a moving story about this old hymnal... (I know nothing of these things...having been raised in the Catholic tradition, but Benjamin peaked my interest!)
He's wearing a cap from the Dallas Cowboys, a prestigious American football team.
Benjamin's non-standard embouchure on the trumpet is reminiscent of Dizzy Gillespie; kind of a half-Dizzy, as Benjamin's cheeks aren't as puffed out as much....

At the time of her retirement in 1981, the Edna G. was the last coal-fired, steam-powered tugboat operating on Lake Superior. Named for the daughter of J. L. Greatsinger, then-president of the Duluth & Iron Range Railroad Company, the tug was built in 1896 specifically to transport ore carriers to and from Two Harbors.

**EDNA G (tugboat)** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 75002144, date listed 19750605
Home port at S end of Poplar St. in Agate Bay
Two Harbors, MN (Lake County)
The "Edna G." is significant as an historic Great Lakes vessel that is still operating within its intended environment. In 1896, the Cleveland Ship Building Company at Cleveland, Ohio constructed the steel hulled Tugboat "Edna G." specifically for transporting ore carriers to and from the Two Harbors docks. The vessel was named after the daughter of J. L. Greatsinger, President of the Duluth and Iron Range Railroad Company from 1886 to 1896. The tugboat has seen continuous service at Two Harbors since its construction with the exception of two years at Norfolk, Virginia during World War I. (1)
