The Exhibition will last till November 29th

Thanks to my partner Eli Medier for his poem:

"If in the air a gasp

rapidly flapping wings

on the edge of the night

vaguely floods your pale face

in this silent wall of shadows

tell me where that bright path is

that I dreamed of for us in our most beautiful days?

It is the time my dear for a profounder prayer

in this gathered shell of naked flesh

like a wound that cannot heal

in a faint and animal tremor

infinitesimal particles

of a brownian haze

I beg your pardon my children

no longer my eyes see

in the dark we are all alone"

Forget the maps, follow the finger! From the bus, San Francisco.

for what ails me, at The Beijing Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing. Five-minute appraisal as part of a tour. I didn't fill the prescription at their pharmacy and they wouldn't let me keep it.

For the curious, I took about 50 photos, to get one that worked the best. In terms of lighting, I used three full-spectrum daylight lamps, and repositioned them to try and reduce glare/shadows as best I could. The image was not white balanced or auto-toned--it's raw from the camera. Also, the swatches are a small square of colour from the same area on each body (in this case, the abdomen) which was blown up and blurred, to try and get as accurate a "solid" swatch as possible. However, as all of this is done by hand, it may not be perfect! I had to tweak the saturation on a few of the swatches, to make the colour temperatures more obvious. It is not mean to be an "official" guide, so much as just a tool to aid folks in rebodying, and identifying skin tones.

Also, as each production run of bodies varies due to the pigments being mixed by hand at the factory, there are slight variations between production runs. For example, Japan with grey undertones, versus slightly Japan with warmer undertones. Or the two Hungarians (2017 Graphix, versus the GLOSS "Perfect Pose Studio" dolls from 2013).

This chart only includes the Color Infusion bodies, which have thus far only been produced in the above skin tones. This chart does not include all of the current IT skin tones, such as A-Tone, and Dark A-Tone. It also does not include any of the discontinued colours such as Tan, Miami, Porcelain, Ebony, etc..

The return to the beach...at last...it has been a couple months since I chased the sunset...well worth the chase!

Another with no post...not even a crop or straighten...sometimes, I'm blessed with great conditions...including the boat I was standing in, no tripod, was so still for this shot!

The Rjukan valley was transformed from 1902-1910 from a quiet, rural community to a thriving town by the building of a hydro electric power station and nitrate fertiliser plant. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the 1930s the nitrate plant was converted and enlarged to produce ammonia, a by-product of which is 'heavy water'. The Germans were thought to be using the heavy water to develop nuclear weapons during the Second World War, leading to the most successful act of sabotage when the plant was blown up. The site is now a museum. I sketched the gorge from the car park of the museum while we waited for a minibus, using a Derwent Graphix pen which isn't waterproof, then adding watercolour. I added more linework when the colour had dried. The valley is so dark the town of Rjukan has mirrors positioned on the hill side to select sunlight into the main square.

One of the last large format studio cameras, in use until two years ago in southwest Michigan, was dismantled recently. This is a shot of the circuit board while still on the Itek Graphix 24x20" film-processing camera.

Another treatment on a shot from last night. Although it definitely looks HDR'ed this is a single image, run thru PSP X2's HDR processor, then popped a few more ways. Working on a floating dock, sometimes things move too much to get a good HDR series so I thought i'd try and see what I could do anyway...I like this one!
