This underground comic magazine features an insert comic which is "Two-Fisted Painters Action Adventure © 1980 by Art Spiegelman ("In This issue: 'The Matisse Falcon'"). The magazine is in Near Mint condition and full intact.
The printing of this magazine can only be described as "precious mixed media," with the cover an obvious example. see from the picture that it features a color collage of the graphic of the window, actually pasted onto each cover of the first edition.
RAW was a comics anthology edited by Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly and published by Mouly from 1980 to 1991. It was a flagship publication of the 1980s alternative comics movement, serving as a more intellectual counterpoint to Robert Crumb's visceral Weirdo, which followed squarely in the underground tradition of Zap and Arcade. Along with the more genre-oriented Heavy Metal it was also one of the main venues for European comics in the United States in its day.
This was taken as a "behind the scenes" shot as Amber was fixing her hair after she was splattered with paint - but I love how it turned out.
haa. this kid was digging the chick in the bikini getting airbushed until his dad came and grabbed his arm and pulled his ass out of there. the kid's neck was cranked to keep watching as he got pulled away.
