"I love Duke physics because of its solid research quality as well as the strong professor-student interactions and I am very proud to be a part of it. Although the Duke physics department is small compared to other universities' physics departments, it's actually very strong. Professors and graduate students here are awesome and the research is very high quality. Besides that, every graduate student can get sufficient attention, which is hard to get in some large-sized departments. "

Current projects: Modeling Gene Regulatory Network in Neurons

Research Description: I am trying to model Gene Regulatory Network in Neurons. Because the number of mRNA and protein in each single cell are actually very small, these variation can be crucial for cellular function, such as metabolism, circadian, memorizing and stress response. Especially in nervous system, it is extremely important to precisely regulate gene expression in single cell because gene expression can modify the synaptic plasticity, the ability of the connection between two neurons. However little is known about the gene regulatory network and how they response to the external stimuli in neurons which I’d like to study for my Ph.D degree.
