Daniel and I spent a good 30 minutes experiencing some light showers and IMHO the best sunrise setting I've seen in Singapore.
I call this "progressive blending". composite of several stages of the sunrise in a single image.
1. First image is tonemapped from 2 exposure. Both shot before sunrise . exp @ 220sec and 150 sec. One had the benefit of a yellow floodlight bathing the foreground from behind us (before it shut off) and the second one had me painting the foreground with a powerful torch hence the selective yellow on the stones beneath the water.
2. Then I had 3 tone mapped images each with a sequence of 4-5 exposures at different times in a 10-15 minute window.
3. All the 4 individual tonemapped images were blended - hence the "progressive stages " of dawn .

It was a walk through picture that i took and got left behind from the group i came here with..... was gonna post it the way it got out of the camera, as it had the same impact but with no strength in colours.... so i decided to turn it into art and make it look like some invasion... as due to the reason, the sky is turning red and the atmosphere is changing kinda look :) it may sound absurd but my art is for myself to judge and for others to be liked/disliked.... art has no boundaries and goes the same for imagination....
My work is not just simple photography, but a compound of my imagination and art included as well.... my photographic work ends the moment shutter is clicked.... then begins the aesthetic sense to transubstantiate and convert it into something as near to my imagination as possible.....
Critiques have always been welcomed as they would be the reason i wud most probably not repeat the same mistakes again !!!

Using a homemade modified 700mm on a Canon 40D, I spotted this plane coming in for a landing at our local airport in the distance as I was sunset shooting.
I was hoping for a center fly through, but will gladly settle for the lower portion.
Quality isn't top notch, but he's very far away and the lens was free.
I've been asked a few times about the lens, so here goes.
I had an old Tamron 500mm reflective lens and took the rear mount off and inserted an inner lens of a Minolta X2 adapter. Took the Canon SLR body cap and drilled a precise hole in the center and attached it with J.B. Weld. (it's not coming off)
No electronics, but a steady f/11-12.
This shot was taken at 1/2000, ISO 100

saturday night was our big annual garden party and boy was it a good one...we always have a big bonfire which a bunch of us always end up around playing music until dawn...there is always a short play written which gets distributed to people who queue up to try and get a part only minutes before getting 'on stage' and performing...it is always pretty off the wall and usually written by a good friend of ours who unfortunately couldn't make it this year so i had to write it myself...i'm quite willing to email you the script should you really be interested...myself and liam also did a short set with our new band called gr8 which has our friends max on bass and geoff on guitar...only our second performance but it went down very well...anyway, much madness throughout the night which was dry and warm and perfect...here's to next years!...

this picture was taken by our good friend colin with his new nikon d2x...this was his second use of the camera which transmits the pictures taken directly to his iBook which was in his 'hippy truck' out the front of our house...some short time later he disappeared for a few minutes only to return with cd in hand...one impressive camera and one very impressive system...thanks colin!
