Goodguys Car Show - Orange County Fairgrounds
In the early 60's GM engineered and built a beautiful little 215 cu in aluminum V8 which they used in their mid-sized Buick, Olds and Pontiac models. It was a successful engine but GM soon wanted to move up in displacement and decided to sell the engine and all the tooling to BMC where it found a nice home in various Rover models and from '73 to '76 even found itself in MG's! It was beautiful fit. The Buick V8 actually weighed 40# less than the smaller displacement inline 4-cylinder it replaced. BMC actually detuned the engine down to 137 HP which was still a nice bonus over the previous 4-banger, and wound up with a brisk performing and better handling car.
The MGB V8 was available either as a GT Coupe or a cabriolet.
