This is my 16th year covering this fun festival filled with color and pageantry and beautiful people. Each year some of the regulars return and sometimes fresh new faces appear to join the eclectic Renaissance Family. Some are vendors or employees, and some customers dress up to fit in with the renaissance festival fun and its 16th century way of life. One big happy family of a few thousand escaping the dull drums of their daily life for a few hours. This year's crop of new faces was lovely. Hope you enjoy the images. I try to capture their joy. Always fun, festive, very colorful and exciting!
Thank you very much for looking. Have a great day! Hazaaa!!

"SSSSSSOOOOOO. I HEAR YOU'RE THE ONE WHO CALLED THEMSELVESSSSS A DRAGONSSSSLAYER, YESSSS?
WELL? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR 'SSSSSLAYER' ??
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allow me to introduce Gracie. She's a dragon I made out of Fimo (an oven fireable modelling clay) many years ago for my partner, Gail.
Gracie, named after Grace Jones (they share an Attitude, I reckon!), stands about 21 centimetres tall (8 inches) and has a wingspan of about 40 cm (16 inches).
Her wings are made from aluminium sheet embedded and fired in the clay, with additional fins (you can see some on the back of her head in this picture) made from decorative foil leaf-like pieces purchased from the craft store and normally used in charm bracelets. Her wicked eyes, which I like best about the entire sculpture, are red glass, and I've always been chuffed by the way they catch the light across a room.
She's built around a wire armature, some of which has started to show through in spots...she's seen better days and has been in more than one knock-down-dragon-out fight with those pesky slayers.
She's still around though. They ain't!
Her fangs, incidentally, are nothing more than pointed toothpicks which means, come to think of it, that she could eat vampires for breakfast and smile...
I did hardly any sculpted detail work on her hide, I seem to recall it was all about the play of light on her ebony body. But I did drybrush with a grey acrylic wash which has helped bring out scratches and toolmarks.
You'll see more pictures of Gracie...
Wait, is that Bowser? King Koopa? I mean, he's kind of pretty much on the nose...
...ANYWAY, this is the Komodo Clan Dragon from Mcfarlane's Dragons (series 3). And I swear it's Bowser.

17 of us went to Medieval Times for our daughters' joint birthdays. Lots of fun and eating with your fingers and stuff. Here the knights line up in preparation for their impending duel...or doom, as was the case for our Black Knight. We knew "our" knight was screwed when he was the first to do battle against the evil protagonist.
yet another battle scene! Of course, you really have to wonder just what that knight's chances are. I mean, he'd have to get pretty close to actually use that thing, and he's fighting a super-dinosaur...
