Devprayag - The town of Godly Confluence

The celestial town of Devprayag is positioned at an elevation of 830 meters above sea level. Devprayag is the last Prayag or the holy confluence of the Alaknanda River, from here that the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi River is known as Ganga.

The town is the seat of the pundits of Badrinath Dham. The meaning of Devprayag is Godly confluence as "Dev" man's god and "Prayag" means confluence.

Chassis cleaning at Red & White's Tredegar garage, Friday 20th February 1976. Having a great aversion to travelling long distances on ordinary stage-carriage bus services, I had reached Tredegar from Cardiff by catching a train to Rhymney and then walking over the hilltops ...from the Rhymney into the Sirhowy valley, from Glamorgan into Monmouthshire and from Wales into England. I was charmed. Begrimed sheep, not thwarted by cattle grids, had wandered in off the hillsides and stood on the pavements, ignored by the townsfolk. A wild moorland pony grazed municipal lawn at the foot of a block of flats.

The bus was a Gardner-engined Bristol FL ...one of the rare 30ft, rear-entrance Lodekkas, superseded, almost as soon as it appeared, by the front-entrance FLF. Alas, Tredegar had no rail connection and I didn't feel like retracing my footsteps to Rhymney. Nothing for it but to flash my NBC staff pass and sit out the interminable, meandering journey back to Cardiff on one of Red & White's dual-purpose REs.

"Being clean is a sign of spiritual purity or goodness, as in Don't forget to wash your ears--cleanliness is next to godliness. This phrase was first recorded in a sermon by John Wesley in 1778, but the idea is ancient, found in Babylonian and Hebrew religious tracts. It is still invoked, often as an admonition to wash or clean up."

Andal Vaibhavam -

Here is a brief narrative about Sri Andal .

As Sita was found by king Janaka while tilling the land for doing yagna, Vishnuchitha found the divine girl child under a Tulasi plant while he was tending his nandavana(garden) in Srivilliputhur. Sri Vishnuchitha, a great vedic scholar, poet, a Vishnu devotee and also known as Periyazhvar brought her up in simple and godly surroundings natural to a pious, vedic Brahmin. The child prodigy thus fostered lovingly grew into a beautiful maiden and became an embodiment of love for Sri Krishna.

Being a devotee of Lord Vishnu, Vishnuchitha would weave a garland of tulasi leaves daily and keep it sacredly rolled in a flower basket so that he may, after attending to his other course, take the garland later to the temple for offering to the lord. The child Andal in her profound innocence would take out the garland daily without her father's knowledge, adorn herself and look into the mirror to satisfy herself whether she was suitable bride to the lord and then would remove the garland and place it in the basket in its original form. This was going on for days and without actually knowing that his daughter had adorned the garland around herself, Vishnuchitha would offer this to the deity who wore it beatifically.

One day to his surprise, Vishnucitha saw the child wearing the garland before he could take it to the temple. He was shocked for he considered this as a great defilement. He remonstrated her for this act. He fasted that day and did not offer the garland to the Lord and remained all repentant.

But lo! What a surprise? At night, the Lord appearing in dreams asked Vishnuchitha, why he did not offer the Tulasi Garland at the Temple that day? The Lord said to Vishnuchitha that he was ever eager to have the Garland touched by His devotee. He said "Think not Andal to be a mere mortal." To his wonder Vishnuchitha found that the Tulasi mala worn on the previous day by Andal had not faded, but was fresher than a freshly made garland. Thereafter, he offered the garland to the deity after being worn by Andal. And this is the reason why Sri Andal is also respectfully remembered as Soodi Kodutha Nachiar. Sri Andal is also called "Kodai" in Tamil, meaning, "Sweet Garland".

The godly women in the Bible are amazing. Just few weeks ago I was thinking about Hanna, the prophet Samuel’s mother. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 1:10-11, "In bitterness of soul Hannah wept much and prayed to the LORD. And she made a vow, saying, ‘O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.’" This was not an easy prayer for any woman to make...giving up her only child. But God heard her prayer and honoured her sacrifice. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 1:19-20, "...the LORD remembered her. So in the course of time Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, ‘Because I asked the LORD for him.’" And we all know what a great man of God the prophet Samuel grew up to be.

If you have a longing of your heart that you feel it is past due and you are ready to give up remember that the Lord remembered Hanna’s prayer in in the course of time.

Another godly woman from the Bible that amazes me is Mary Magdalene. At the arrest of Lord Jesus Christ the Bible says in Mark 14:50, “Then everyone deserted him and fled.” Three days later while the disciples locked themselves in together for fear of persecution, Mary Magdalene and few other women went to the tomb to anoint the body of the Lord. When Mary found the tomb empty she run to the disciples and told them. The apostle Peter and another disciple went back to the tomb and found it empty as Mary has told them. Then comes one of my favourite parts in the Bible, John 20:10-18:

Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

They asked her, "Woman, why are you crying?"

"They have taken my Lord away," she said, "and I don't know where they have put him." At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

"Woman," he said, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him."

Jesus said to her, "Mary."

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher).

Mary Magdalene wasn’t crying because Jesus had died and her dreams of a ruler who will liberate the Jews from the Roman empire were dashed. She didn’t cry because her hopes of having a high position in His Kingdom weren’t coming true. She didn’t cry because of fear of persecution. She didn’t even cry because He was dead (even though I am sure she did.) She cried because they had taken her Lord away!

How many of us would cry if something so tragic happened in our lives that made us feel or believe that God is dead. For Mary it wasn’t her tragedy that made her cry, no, she wept because she has lost her Lord and she missed Him. I think if we could interview Mary Magdalene today about that moment she would say, “I would have given it all...but give me Jesus.” Isn’t this what Christianity should be about? When we have Jesus, suddenly all the promises of the world seem like junk. When we have Jesus all that it takes to make us joyful is the name “Jesus”.

I believe Mary just missed Jesus. She missed her daily walk with Him in those couple of years (see Luke 8:1-3). You know, following Jesus wasn’t boring because Jesus took His disciples from one place to another and He did amazing miracles in their presence. Why is our daily spiritual life boring? Why do we want to settle down? Why are we scared of miracles? Mary wasn’t scared and her love and devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ was honoured because she was the first evangelist as the Bible continues to say in verses 17-18 of John 20:

Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' "

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: "I have seen the Lord!" And she told them that he had said these things to her.

Today we also can share the joy of Mary because the Lord is alive and can sing with her...

Jesus is Alive - Ron Kenoly

Hallelujah

Jesus is alive

Death has lost its victory

And the grave has been denied

Jesus lives forever

He's alive! He's alive!

He’s the Alpha and Omega

The first and last is He

The curse of sin is broken

And we have perfect liberty

The lamb of God is risen

He's alive, He's alive!

Jesus is alive!

About the model: This is my classmate Katya who is an Orthodox Christian from Russia. Katya has an amazing voice—the best I have ever heard in real life. She can sings anything from a deep voice like Louis Armstrong in What a Wonderful World to an angelic choir voice which she does regularly at her church. She has an excellent control over her vocals even though she has never taken any singing lessons! Her voice is a true gift from God because she is a very, very talented singer and it is true joy listening to her sing. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she becomes a very popular singer :)

This Fridays trip was a short one to Winchester Cathedral. The original cathedral was founded in 642AD an todays cathedral was built by the Normans in 1079. Winchester in Hampshire was once the capital city of Anglo Saxon England. Winchester cathedral is one of the largest cathedrals in Europe.

It is well worth reading the Wiki page if you are interested in English history.

This row of temples is a portion of the famous 108 Shiva temple complex of Burdwan, West Bengal. Established by the widow of the then King of Burdwan Maharaj Tilakchandra, Maharani Bishankumari in 1788 AD, the temple-complex is an amazing sight to behold. Encircling a central large pond, the 108 temples are arranged in 4 rows, along the 4 banks of the pond. It has been recently repaired & painted. It is now a famous tourist attraction of Burdwan.

Just a peaceful flight just above the clouds over Panama City.

Well, we all know the Bible teaches that "cleanliness is next to godliness".

Travelled up to Salisbury today to revisit the wonderful cathedral. It has the tallest spire in the United Kingdom. I climbed to the top of the spire last time I visited back in 2014. The tower is not open at the moment due to Covid-19 rules on social distancing. Salisbury cathedral is one of our newer Norman cathedrals as it was not built until 1220AD. Sadly the weather today as you can see was cloudy and overcast.

This wonderful man taught my Sunday School class this Sunday when my husband and I returned to our NC church for their 250th anniversay. Many of the congregation dressed in clothing from 1762 to the present. Weldon is 98 years old and going strong. And he is as I titled---A godly man. He is still active in his ham radio hobby.

Chichester Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, is the seat of the Anglican Bishop of Chichester. It is located in Chichester, in West Sussex, United Kingdom. It was founded as a cathedral in 1075. I visited again on the 28th of July 2021. Had a nice walk around inside the cathedral and and around the outside too where the changing clouds made an interest back drop

Christian Movie | God Is the Way, the Truth, and the Life | "The Mystery of Godliness: The Sequel"

Lin Bo'en is an old preacher who has believed in the Lord for many decades. Since accepting Almighty God, Christ of the last days, he was convicted, excluded, and expelled from the religious community by the pastors and elders, the antichrist forces. But even though Lin Bo'en was attacked, convicted, and framed, he did not shrink back in fear. Rather, his faith became more resolute than ever, and this led him to finally understand that the pastors and elders of the religious world were faking a virtuous appearance. At the same time, he came to know that only Christ is the truth, the way, and the life, and only Christ can save and purify and perfect man. Because of this, he was resolved to follow Christ, bear witness for Christ, and do his utmost to pursue the truth, to seek to transform his disposition so that he could become a true witness for God. Once the Chinese Communist Party discovered that Lin Bo'en was released from prison and had not changed, that he had not renounced his faith in the slightest bit and even believed in the Eastern Lightning , that he went everywhere to testify that the Lord Jesus had come again and that He was Almighty God, the CCP listed him as wanted and went to arrest him. Lin Bo'en was forced to leave his family, and in each place he testified to Almighty God's work in the last days, he was able to lead a lot of sincere, good-natured believers to God's side. This video gives an account of Lin Bo'en's true story of spreading the gospel and testifying for God.

Restaurant Equipment For Sale

Used Restaurant Equipment in Maryland

Launching and operating your very own restaurant is not exactly the same thing as starting your home business from your kitchen table where you invest a couple of thousand dollars and initially work a few hours a day. No matter how small your restaurant is, you have probably invested many thousands of dollars in your restaurant business. A significant portion of the investment is allocated to the acquisition of restaurant equipment. Since commercial kitchen equipment is expensive, you need to take additional care to ensure that it keeps humming at all times and never breaks down when your restaurant is brimming beyond capacity with a waiting line that extends far into the parking lot. Here are a few proactive steps you can take to keep your cash registers clinking even when there is standing room only space at your restaurant.

Cleanliness is Godliness

Using restaurant equipment that is not clean and well-maintained means that you are compromising on the hygienic standards you are expected to maintain at your commercial food service operation. This brings up not just moral but also legal issues. Clean and nutritious food cooked on clean kitchen equipment is one way of inviting your restaurant guests to return for an encore.
