I'm a much bigger fan of Belle and Sebastian than Elvis Costello, I have to admit, though both musicians have amazing songs and catalogues. Stuart Murdoch reaches me on a completely different type of emotional level, though. I've been a Belle and Sebastian fan since my friend Josh gave me their cd Tigermilk after a trip to Scotland. That was in 1999 or maybe a little before, so I have been a fan for nearly 20 years. Here's a shot of Stuart Murdoch performing at the Riviera Theater in Chicago with the projection behind him. It's a more subtle shot because he's not dancing around like he can from time to time but it's a real sentimental shot for me and I love these lads looking out from the screen behind.

I love this song so much. Back in 2009, we shifted to Abbottabad as dad got posted there. The first residence we dwelled in Abbottabad was situated at "Hill Road". It was a wonderful place. I was ten, then. It was in those days, I listened to this song for the first time ever and immediately fell in love with it. A beautifully composed song. You should listen to it too. :-D

Of the maybe 300+ films I saw this year, these are the best ones. Some of them were released last year and I’ve been a bit slow getting round to them. Some of them were released even longer ago. The criteria are – I watched them in 2014 and I liked them. That’s it.

" “God Help The Girl” is a musical feature film, which will be made in 2012. It is written and is to be directed by Stuart Murdoch, the lead singer of the group Belle And Sebastian.

So far, an album of songs has been written and released (in 2009) as a precursor to the film.

The project began in late 2003 when Stuart started writing a few songs that “weren’t for him to sing”, but had a ‘girl group’ sound. The few songs soon became a whole album’s worth. By this time, most of the songs were to be sung by a lead character, a girl called Eve."

When was the last time you went to a gig where the singer shared the stage with a stuffed badger?

There's an explanation of why here

Once upon a time, Catherine Ireton was lead vocalist on the Belle & Sebastian side project God Help The Girl. Now she's moved to Brighton, and will be releasing her own EP in a couple of months.

Guess who found her record collection? This isn't all of it, just some of the best.

This picture was taken a long time ago when I was living at my previous place. This picture was taken on a windy evening and every now and then when I look at this picture it reminds me of the place so much and especially of all the beautiful moments I've spent there. The title of the picture does not matches but whenever I look at this picture ,I can hear the song "Stills" by "God Help the Girl" in my head.

P.S. Happy Left Handers Day. :-)

After one final round of drinks at the SXSW Registrants Lounge, I made my way over to the Paramount Theatre and joined the SXXpress pass queue for God Help the Girl, a Glasgow-based indie-pop musical film by Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian.
