The Gray Heron (Ardea cinerea) is a long-legged wading bird of the heron family, Ardeidae, native throughout temperate Europe and Asia, and also parts of Africa. Generally quite common and conspicuous in wetland habitats from marshes and tidal flats to small ponds, ditches, and wet fields; nests colonially in tall trees. Mainly seen as singles or in small groups, standing quietly in or at the edge of water, less often hunting in fields. Plumage is mostly gray overall, with paler neck; the adult has white crown, black eyebrows, and a black shoulder patch. Like other herons and egrets, flies with neck pulled in to form a bulge.

"Christmas Star" 2020-12-20
I went out last night, ahead of the snow storm tonight, to image this rare close conjunction. It’s been nearly 400 years since the planets passed this close to each other in the sky, and nearly 800 years since the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter occurred at night. Saturn is above Jupiter. Three of the moons of Jupiter are visible in the last image.
These images were captured at 5:22, 5:37 and 5:50. The pair move incredibly quickly thru the night sky. In just 13 minutes they move from the left of the elevators to the right.

The brown-headed gull is a small gull breeding in the high plateaus of central Asia from Tajikistan to Ordos in Inner Mongolia. It is migratory, wintering on the coasts & large inland lakes of the Indian Subcontinent. Its pale button eyes give it a somewhat fearsome appearance. The breeding adult’s head is the color of milk chocolate, lightening towards the bill. Non-breeding & first-winter birds have a dark ear patch and faint traces of the dark hood. All plumages may be confused with the smaller Black-headed Gull, but note the pale eyes and more extensive black on the primaries in all plumages. Breeds on high-altitude lakes on the Tibetan Plateau and winters on marshes, estuaries, lakes and rivers, most often in coastal areas.

The painted stork is a large wader in the stork family with a long yellow bill that curves down at the tip. It is found in the wetlands of the plains of tropical Asia south of the Himalayas in the Indian Subcontinent and extending into Southeast Asia. Their distinctive pink tertial feathers of the adults give them their name.

Como viene siendo habitual los jueves es el día por excelencia de Shadows.. dedicamos estos días para trabajar bien paisaje si vemos que las condiciones acompañan o un poquito de lightpainting resguardados en algún lugar sino podemos estar fuera.
En esta ocasión teníamos pendiente acudir a esta localización que ya habíamos visto a alguno de nuestros colegas nocturnos.
Una de las estaciones abandonadas más bonitas que tenemos cerca de Madrid, su estado de conservación es bueno y para hacer unas nocturnas es ideal.
En este caso optamos por iluminar el interior con tonos cálidos, para aprovechar los azules que nos dejarían en el cielo el paso de las nubes en larga exposición.
Luego iluminamos el exterior para dotar a la escena de algo de contraste y dejarla como nos gusta.
Nos decantamos por este encuadre para esta toma pues, la verdad, es que parece que los arboles están puestos a posta para sacarles en la foto intentamos quitar una gran fuente de luz que salía al final de la vía cerrando el encuadre.
