Original school room from the old mining town in Bodie, CA. The mining business was shut down and the exodus began in 1920's. Remains of the classroom still remain.
How many of us, myself included, have lost our bearings; we are no longer attentive to the world in which we live; we don’t care; we don’t protect what God created for everyone, and we end up unable even to care for one another! And when humanity as a whole loses its bearing, it results in tragedies like the one we have witnessed….The question has to be asked: Who is responsible for the blood of these brothers and sisters of ours? Nobody! That is our answer: It isn’t me; I don’t have anything to do with it; it must be someone else, but certainly not me….Today no one in our world feels responsible; we have lost a sense of responsibility for our brothers and sisters….The culture of comfort, which makes us think only of ourselves, makes us insensitive to the cries of other people, makes us live in a soap bubbles which, however lovely, are insubstantial; they offer a fleeting and empty illusion which results in indifference to others; indeed, it even leads to the globalization of indifference. In this globalized world, we have fallen into globalized indifference. We have become used to the suffering of others; it doesn’t affect me; it doesn’t concern me; it’s none of my business!

A huge Union Pacific lashup takes the lead of eastbound Global 4 as it flies through the soybean fields east of Norborne on BNSF's Marceline Subdivision. Trailing fourth-out is a former Southern Pacific AC4400CW still wearing its original Bloody Nose paint.

Today post obviously about climate change , just reminding of the reasons by Burning or cutting down trees reverses the effects of carbon sequestration and releases greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide) into the atmosphere. Furthermore, deforestation changes the landscape and reflectivity of earth's surface, Global warming may increase the intensity and frequency of droughts in many areas, creating more intense and frequent wildfires.

Sarah's cousin who emigrated to Australia 30 years ago. He rode across Europe starting from the east coast of Russia a couple of years ago and decided to ride his bike from Vancouver BC to Montreal down the east coast to Houston and up the west coast. So he had his bike shipped to Canada, got on the plane, and rode his bike clear across Canada and down to our place in DC. This morning he got back on his bike (a BMW) and hit the road again is on his way to Texas. A true free spirit and my hero!!!
This was my first time attending and attempting fireworks at Global Fest, which is weird, since I've lived in Calgary for 16 years. It was hard to choose a favourite, but I did like the little starbursts on this one. I learned a bit and made a few notes for going to Global Fest in the future!
I would like for anyone who has been brainwashed by the global warming propagandists to spend the winter with me ... clearing out my two driveways with the snow scoop you see in the next shot. Trust me ... somewhere before the middle of April, 2017 they would be firmly de-programmed!
A pair of Union Pacific's four-axle EMDs were shuffling some intermodal cars around Global III west of Rochelle in 2008.
Due to UP's implementation of Precision Scheduled Railroading, Union Pacific has shuttered this once-busy facility and the trains no longer call on Global III.
