The 20th walk along our 18th shore. The overly dramatic title comes from an observation from a family member that the tree images are all dead... Well, yeah, but the walk to these sites are often miles through wooded areas filled with tracks of animals and howls of coyotes. These areas are quiet and peaceful, but filled with life - not death!
suspended in the cool embrace of blue, the cleaning platform hangs precariously as if caught between breaths. this is a dance of geometry and life, where lines run with rigorous precision and human endeavor nudges gently against the confines of structured existence. the vast panels of the skyscraper glisten with the afternoon sun, reflecting not just the sky but also the aspirations housed within. in this moment, the ordinary task transcends, becoming a subtle metaphor for our daily strivings against the sheer faces of our personal and communal ambitions.
This photograph was for Unit 2.5, Getting the Right Focus & Foreground Tips, of Taya Iv's course, SELF PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY, as offered through PHOTOGRAPHYCOURSE.NET. The unit examined ways of ensuring one gets the right focus when taking self portraits - which can be difficult if you can't see yourself through a viewfinder or a viewscreen. The unit also discussed using foreground objects while keeping things sharp, as sometimes, when you're holding something, thigs can go out of focus easily, with the object becoming the centre of focus instead of yourself (Although there are times you might want that).
This photo doesn't exactly fit the unit. Somehow, I had it in my mind that we needed to shoot through layers. Haing said that, there is a later module where Iv explores just that - so in some respects I am ahead of the game. But this was still fun to make.

Dylan Neuwirth installs "All My Friends" neon sculpture at Museum of Museums (MoM), Friday August 2 2019
Five rope-suspended cleaners dance across the mirror-blue façade like mid-air acrobats, each silhouette pinned to the sky by a single silver thread. Sunlight skates along the high-rise panels, doubling their movements in perfect crystalline reflections while the empty cobalt backdrop makes every figure feel both weightless and impossibly brave. From this distance their neon harnesses read like tiny brushstrokes on a vast urban canvas-quiet proof that even the sharp geometry of modern architecture still relies on human choreography to keep it shimmering.
