Interior of the Salvatorkirche (Church of the Savior), a Greek Orthodox church with a slightly convoluted history:
Built in late Gothic style in 1493 as a cemetery church for the relocated cemetery of the Frauenkirche.
With the secularization in 1803 it should be destroyed, but it was used as important storage, so destruction was avoided.
In 1806 it was gifted to the Lutheran community in Munich, but due to continued usage as depot the Lutheran community could not use it. With the decision to build the Lutheran St. Matthäus church in 1825 the Lutherans returned St. Salvator to the crown.
In 1828 King Ludwig I of Bavaria gave it to the Greek Orthodox community for use, but the church building remained property of the state.
After this it remained Greek Orthodox and was renovated multiple times, most recently some interior refurbishing happened in 2022.

HMM... the macromonday theme for 12/14 is high key. i acquired a set of vintage angels which went to my BBF who has a collection of them, especially on her tree. before they were gifted to her though, i took pictures of them. will put an establishing shot in the first comment box but she is about 2 and a half inches (6cm) tall

Ynys Giftan Island
Ynys Giftan Island is situated in the Dwyrd
Estuary in a rural location overlooking the
picturesque town of Portmeirion and provides
panoramic views of stunning coastline,
mountains and the Irish Sea. The Island is
approximately 3 miles from the popular town
of Harlech and 10 miles from the town of
Porthmadog. It is accessible by boat at high tide
and at low tide by foot, tractor or other suitable
vehicle for traveling across the Estuary.
One of only 43 of Britain’s unbridged tidal
islands, Ynys Giftan is in the wide Afon
Dwyryd estuary near the village of Talsarnau
in Gwynedd, North Wales. The Island has been
unoccupied for many years and has a unique
history. It is said to have been gifted to the
current Lord Harlech’s ancestors by Queen Anne
in the early 1700s, hence it became known as
Ynys Giftan (‘Anne’s Gift Island’).
Before becoming a violinist, Alice attended circus school and was particularly gifted at contortion.

I was recently thinking about some of the beautiful outfits I've been given as gifts during the past year by some truly special people I know in Second Life. So then I decided, perhaps a nice way to show how much I appreciated and enjoyed these clothing gifts would be to take some pictures of me in the outfits, and post those pictures here on Flickr.
This darling ensemble was from my friend Tabby. It's a risqué little number, but I love it!
This shows the space in between 3 of the Hindu Goddess Kali's 6 arms. It's taken from a 12 inch high bronze statuette,gifted to my parents during their time in Nepal.

A simple translation for my friends who are curious about the words - - -
What is the one thing that drives you crazy?
As if the daily meals are optional, and you never noticed when you fell asleep..

EVER GIFTED (IMO: 9786827) is a Container Ship that was built in 2018 (3 years ago) and is sailing under the flag of Singapore. It's carrying capacity is 20124 TEU and her current draught is reported to be 16.1 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 399.98 meters and her width is 59 meters.
She can't walk anymore without the aid of a walking stick, but this gray-haired 91-year-old lady still has an amazing good memory.
For one thing, she still remembers the first name of my deceased mother whom she last met 60 years ago.
I was then just a little boy, so I can't recall an instant having seen her at our place of abode when she went there to pay to my mother her husband's rent for the use of a piece of farm lot. She started talking to me, however, after a young relative of hers mentioned my family name within her hearing distance, and this was when I paid a first visit to her son at his home today.
I was totally surprised when she asked me, "How's Ate Rosie?" ("Ate," a Pilipino word, is a common title of respect for an older sister, but is also used for other older non-relative woman.) In answer, I said that my mother has passed away already a decade ago at the age of 84 years old.

We found this tiny little church by chance while travelling in Herefordshire. I think it can add a certain magic when coming across somewhere you didn’t plan on visiting. This was certainly one of those occasions, a very lucky find indeed.

Dedication : St Mary & St David
Described by Simon Jenkins. Principal Features : Extraordinarily complete and decorative Norman church.
Amongst students of church architecture few churches are as well-known as Kilpeck. To the public, few places could be more obscure!
If any church deserves the word “extraordinary” it is Kilpeck. Once adjacent to a Benedictine monastery, it dates from about 1140AD and is little changed since. Kilpeck was gifted to the splendidly-named William fitz Norman after the Conquest and the church as we know it was commissioned by his son, Hugh. It dates from comparatively late in the Norman period and yet it is awash with the most elaborate carvings, many of a distinctly un-christian nature. Celtic, Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon and pagan imagery vies with Christian iconography in a riot of dragons, warriors, monsters and animals. What Hugh intended the parishioners to learn from these images we can only speculate, but we can detect everywhere imagery of life, death and re-birth.
Kilpeck was built by the “Herefordshire School” of masons and we know that they were influenced by the churches of South-West France and the pilgrimage destination of The Cathedral of St James at Santiago de Compostella in Northern Spain; but none of this accounts for the imagery of Kilpeck. The excellent church booklet speculates that Hugh may have returned from the First Crusade in 1096 with holy relics that needed a suitable church to house them.
The church is a three-cell affair of nave, chancel and apse. The apse ceiling is an early example of stone vaulting with decorated ribs and a stone roof boss.
The doorway arch has three orders of decoration : a chevron moulding, followed by Norman beakheads and a third order that includes some astrological symbols. This third order is not supported by the door pillars so it is was probably added a little later.
The incredible left door jamb. The two warrior figures are known as the “Welsh Warriors” but their origin is in fact unknown. We see a lance in the hands of the upper warrior and a double-handed sword in the one below. These serpents slither up the pillar, and tumble down on the right hand pillar.
The right hand door jamb has less dramatic carvings on the inner side, although there are two birds near the floor. The outer order, however, seems to be a similar riot of entwined serpents to its left hand counterpart.

Our incredible canine companion gifted to us by his previous owner seen here keeping a close eye on me while taking photos.
We are fortunate to have been given this thoughtful creature who had saved John (his previous owner).
This dog was John's PTSD dog and watched over John so that he could now feel safe and relax after his traumatic military service having lost three friends during one Christmas period from his military unit.
John was understandably after this experience struggling with the loss of his Australian brothers in arms.
John's commanding officer wisely advised John after this experience to get a dog as a companion as he feared he may end up dead.
So a few months after this advice John went to a dog rescue center and was not sure what sort of dog he needed when a little nine month old Boofy came over to John with his then tortured soul.
Boofy looked into John's eyes, wrapped his little front puppy legs around his arm and would not let go and John realized he had found the right dog and canine soul brother and left with young Boofy after paying some veterinary fees and doing the new ownership paperwork.
9 years later John collapsed from an infection in his house. Boofy refused to let John go to sleep as he sensed he would possibly not wake up again.
Boofy ended up jumping on John as he lay on the floor to stop him falling asleep and finally John realized in his daze that he had to phone for an ambulance for help and he then passed out.
The ambulance guys had to break into John's house and Boofy led these guys to John.
Subsequently when John woke up in hospital
he was very aware that he had been asked in effect to phone for help before being allowed to pass out as the Doctors had told John he was definitely about to die from sepsis.
This dog is an Australian cattle dog X German boxer cross.
You may notice the Bentley star on his forehead.
My son and nephew are proud to call this wonderful creature their wolf brother.
Boofy can now relax with our family where he just wanders around the garden at will and bothers the birds and lizards, just doing doggy things in his later years now and enjoys our family outings.
John, his previous owner phones up regularly to ask how Boofy is going and we send John photos.
He is very happy that Boofy can just be a dog and relax and not feel obligated to care for John now and that in itself is a sign of incredible strength and compassion on John's behalf.

I couldn't tell if these shots were turning out okay until I got home and put them on the computer, and increased the light. Then, wow! I'm so glad I didn't get discouraged by my dark display on my camera.
This is the best year we've had for colorful leaves for quite some time...at least since I discovered photography and was gifted with such wonderful equipment.
