....a drawing for my giftcard for the bridal shower I will be attending this weekend. It features the brides' dog looking positvely thrilled by the proceedings.
I visited Disneyland today. It was overcast and 70 F, and moderately busy. The big Christmas Tree was up in Town Square, and decorations were up everywhere, including in Downtown Disney.
I did a bunch of shopping today. I will post some photos of my goods in another album.
I watched the Disney Christmas parade. I would have taken more photos, but my camera battery died, and I forgot to bring a spare. I had late lunch at Plaza Inn, then left for home without going on any rides.

The card is a two-piece connected with a colored raffia ribbon - the client's custom message was printed on the bottom card.
After our Mommy & Me breakfast out, we went to Toys R Us. Hendrix had a gift card and some cash, he was so cute with his wallet in his back pocket and chain hanging down. He pushed the cart, and shopped wisely, he ended up, with 76 cents to spare mind you, with a Star Wars learning laptop, Clearanced at $19.98 and 2 Leapster games, priced at $24.99 but buy one get one free, UP and spiderman. Quite the little bargain shopper! He loved every minute of it! He was really excited to be there!

For the Hero Arts 'givingcard' challenge. When Jennifer first posted this week's challenge I knew I wanted to somehow use one of the cute little Starbucks key chain gift cards.
I first stamped my clear tag with white stazon. Then I adhered pieces of red/pink Bo Bunny Double Dot paper the same size as the gift card to both sides of the tag. Cut out the white paper to go all the way around the tag 1 1/2 times and adhered it on one side only. Added the poinsettias, pearls and stamped message to both sides so it can hang either way. Inserted the gift card (with ribbon tied around the keychain hole) behind the white paper on the side that wasn't adhered. I then stamped the background on the kraft notecard , punched out 2 holes to thread the large ribbon through, threaded it through the tag and tied a bow. The bow can then be untied and used to hang the tag ornament on the Christmas tree. The gift card can easily be removed and enjoyed! :)

Blue Sky Chinese Restaurant Gift Card Design - $25
Designed for Blue Sky Chinese Restaurant in Carmichael, California.
Their website is www.blueskymenu.com. Just a side note to anyone in the area, out of all the "Chinese Restaurants" that I've been in California they are the best when it comes to taste buds and I'm not saying that just because we do their material, all our friends are hooked on Blue Sky.
YakStudios is a design and marketing firm based out of Folsom, California serving the Sacramento, Roseville, and Northern California region.
I had some really cool green vellum 6" x 6" envelopes and some 6" x 6" pastic sleeves, so I made some 5.5" x 5.5" cards. And they could be small prints as well if they were matted. I guess it was worthwhile... I sold 4 of them at Art on the Commons for between $10 - $15. I've put the leftovers on my Etsy site.

My wife unearthed this Border Books and Music gift card in September 2013. As a person who hates to see something valuable go to waste, I wanted to use it. There was just one small problem---the last remaining Borders Books and Music stores closed two years earlier, on September 18, 2011. Wikipedia has the full story of Borders. And wouldn't you know, the bankruptcy judge failed to mandate a long grace period for cashing in gift cards, causing this perfectly good gift card to go to waste!
I miss Borders Books and Music, by far the best bookstore in my neck of the woods of South King County (south of Seattle). Its Tukwila store was originally on Southcenter Parkway, in a small shopping center built on the site of a brick office building that was demolished in 1995. (I worked in the building in the mid-1980s.)
My wife and I patronized that store many times. It had a Starbucks cafe inside and a large second-floor balcony filled with books. In July 2008 it moved to a site on the second floor of the Southcenter Mall. That store was smaller than the original, probably a result of declining business. Its selection of travel books was much smaller than what had been offered at the original store. Borders went out of business in September 2011, causing the mall store to close. Its space was taken over by a church, and later by The Container Store.

My sister got me a belated birthday gift... I couldn't imagine what was in the big priority mail envelope since I wasn't expecting anything from anyone. It was this! Man, their packaging is no joke! A thick carbdoard envelope with "J.Crew" embossed on the front, held together with a length of nice cloth ribbon, held a card printed on heavy-duty nice paper which held the gift card. And a catalog, just in case...

Crosstitch got hidden behind book...gee I hope I can make sense of the instructions...I'm not crafty in that sense. x-p Unfortunately the design mislabels a marine butterflyfish as an angelfish right on the thing, forcing you to stitch that shameful lie. Well, Ma wouldn't have known that. D; (And this PP compact is cute for a new one, but Mattel really just needs to re-release the original Pollies and do a cartoon set directly in that Pollyville.) My newest crochet project (which, I really need to get crackin' on) is cards. These are 3 birthday cards I made for a coworker who put in an order a couple weeks ago. The one in the front is for someone who has a birthday around St. Patrick's Day. You can't really see the cupcakes in the 2 cards in the back, but trust they're there.
Hopefully, I'll get myself in gear and start creating more cards for other occasions!

These are the gifts I got from my family. I also got a set of Kids in the Hall Season 3 DVDs from Christine, and a custom planter with Sweet Basil seeds from my nephew Cole. I also got a crisp $20 from Grandma, which I think was quickly wasted at Hunter's Pub.
I used the gift card from my mom to get some argyle v-neck sweater from Target and 5 new CDs from Von's.

I doodled this giftcard for Target many months ago and completely forgot about it 'til Maho and I saw it in the stores the other day. It's rather simple I know, but then again, so am I.
So if you want one of these cards for your very own, walk don't run (safety first!) to your local Target store and tell 'em the happy acorns sent you. Oh, what a nut I am (a Filbert, I presume)!
Interesting to see the variety of Heron logos here from "The Greatest Name in Petrol Retailing"—from the rectangular logo on the red stamps, which was closest to the actual pole sign on sites which displayed it, through the 'heron' logo, to the coat of arms bearing Gerald Ronson's 'finis coronat opus'—'the end crowns the work'. As Ronson put it in his autobiography, "What I was saying was that at a Heron filling station, 'the finishing touches are the makings of a work of art'."
Two different HQ addresses for Heron are shown, 19 Marylebone Road and Fibre House, 19 Sun Street, Finsbury Square. I think 19 Marylebone Road, later known as Heron House, was the newer of the two addresses.
