getting up is a hard task for me. every morning when it's time to begin the day awake, i feel like a deep sea diver struggling to ascend from the depths to the surface by the sheer power of her fins.
the worst part is over, though, as soon as i've made it out of bed and been in contact with lots of really cold water. and it's only getting better when darkness begins to creep back into the corners, and morning light stretches across the sky....
and then a hot cardamom coffee and a few moments of peace, and all is bliss.

Never a better image than this to depict how I feel when I have to wake up very early in the morning. Arrrgh! This is a fun ceramics sculpture seen in a yard at Yarnell, Arizona. I don't know the artist and the home did not appear to be presently occupied although it could be a vacation home.

My first visit in Lofoten, June 1996: train from Trondheim to Bodø, boat to Moskenes and next 3 days around by bike.. with very few hours of sun.. This is taken in the morning of day 2 in my favourite hostel in Stamsund, Lofoten: Roar Justad youth hostel.. he is a real TROLL!!! people from all over the world has been here, in this very special hostel..
i remember gettingup in the morning (the day before we had more than 50 km in mostly rain!!) with the smell of coffee and a fresh baked cake, done by somebody for everybody.. and the sun..
