I spent a couple days in early May taking a break from warb1ers and working some farmland areas. The bokeh is a plowed field of Georgia dirt. This fencepost with the rusted fence and flowers seemed the perfect spot to attempt this image.

Sighnaghi, Georgia, Caucasus, 2013.
"The first man who, having fenced in a piece of land, said "This is mine," and found people naïve enough to believe him, that man was the true founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up the ditch, and crying to his fellows: Beware of listening to this impostor; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody."
― Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Discourse on the Origin of Inequality

Veronica umbrosa ‘Georgia Blue’ (or ’Oxford Blue’). This creeping veronica, also known as V. peduncularis by early misidentification, was found by Roy Lancaster in 1979 in the Republic of Georgia.
Originally a Georgian (1714-1837) townhouse. Small paned sash windows. Surrounding brickwork with characteristic sills and angular headers. Rectangles. Strong symmetry.

Since these two houses I am posting today are private residences, I'm afraid I can't give you much historical information. This one is on Franklin Street, a stones throw from the beach. Secluded behind that hedge and fence is a superb example of an early Georgian homestead, complete with verandah. These verandah's were very important ways of cooling houses in the warm summer weather.
For historic information, please check out Peter's comment below. www.flickr.com/photos/luminosity7/52001657124/#comment721...

The City of Savannah, Georgia (USA) is one of America's oldest established towns. Located on the lower east coast of the USA, it is filled with history from the English Colonial days to the present. The Riverboat cruise is a nice way to see parts of the city but a walking tour of the beautiful historic district is the BEST way to see this historic colonial town.
