A chat with the beautiful Georgia on this day in 2019

I spent a couple days in early May taking a break from warb1ers and working some farmland areas. The bokeh is a plowed field of Georgia dirt. This fencepost with the rusted fence and flowers seemed the perfect spot to attempt this image.

"The first man who, having fenced in a piece of land, said "This is mine," and found people naïve enough to believe him, that man was the true founder of civil society. From how many crimes, wars, and murders, from how many horrors and misfortunes might not any one have saved mankind, by pulling up the stakes, or filling up the ditch, and crying to his fellows: Beware of listening to this impostor; you are undone if you once forget that the fruits of the earth belong to us all, and the earth itself to nobody."

― Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Discourse on the Origin of Inequality

Since these two houses I am posting today are private residences, I'm afraid I can't give you much historical information. This one is on Franklin Street, a stones throw from the beach. Secluded behind that hedge and fence is a superb example of an early Georgian homestead, complete with verandah. These verandah's were very important ways of cooling houses in the warm summer weather.

The City of Savannah, Georgia (USA) is one of America's oldest established towns. Located on the lower east coast of the USA, it is filled with history from the English Colonial days to the present. The Riverboat cruise is a nice way to see parts of the city but a walking tour of the beautiful historic district is the BEST way to see this historic colonial town.

Georgia seems to have gone back to perching on the guy wires for the radio masts in the Princes Hwy paddock lately. She seems to be getting used to me without the 'big hat' now and is, once again, allowing me to get close in.For those who know the paddock, yes, I jumped the fence!
