RIPE field trials at the IGB BioEnergy Farm

This project could increase yields by as much as 60% to help smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia feed their communities and provide for their families.

In 2016, Postdoctoral Researcher Paul South evaluates the photosynthetic efficiency of plants engineered to improve photosynthesis, specifically a process called photorespiration wherein the plant creates a toxic chemical that has to be recycled wasting energy that could be used to produce increase yield.
