Calends is Latin, the word from which calendar is derived. In turn, Calendula means “throughout the months.”
Lets hope the coming months are so much better than what we are experiencing during the last few months.

Around this time many flowers are blooming in our garden -
most of them roses. Here under the apple tree a poisonous foxglove.

Um diese Zeit blühen viele Blumen im Garten, die meisten von ihnen sind Rosen.
Hier unter dem Apfelbaum wächst ein giftiger Fingerhut.

Loch Garten and the adjoining Loch Mallachie are always great places to visit in any weather, but when the winds are light, the reflections of the Caledonian Forest in the peaty waters can look spectacular. I was lucky on the morning I took this image that the winds were light and the sun was out.
Not all our daffodils were knocked over by the heavy winds of recent days: our garden is still awash with yellow ... and white, like this daffodil.

Dear friends, thank you for visiting my photo stream and the rating of my photos. I wish everyone the best of luck in their search for interesting and beautiful subjects
Just back from a lovely break in Scotland. This is a snap from my phone taken on a rare sunny afternoon at Loch Garten.
Having missed the snow by 2 days I can't work out if we were unfortunate or incredibly lucky to have missed storm Arwen (we were safely tucked up in a cosy B&B in Dumfries & Galloway as the storm blew through). It would have been great to have seen the snow but the idea of no electricity and being snowed in isn't that appealing!
Some success with the wonderful Scottish wildlife - I'll post some images soon.
Thanks as always to everyone who has called in on my photostream and for your favourites/kind comments while I've been away.
