I hope you don't get sick of seeing my kids over the next little while but I have been photgraphing them like crazy so that I can play with the lighting and also play with photoshop. I downloaded a free trial of CS2. I know it's old but it gives me 30 days to play., I have been running some actions that I got a while back. This is a Lilyblue Lightroom preset (Azalia) and a Lilyblue Photoshop action (Honey).
So after I ran the honey action in CS2 I brought it over to picnik to smooth the skin a wee bit.. not too much because i don't think children need all that much work!.. I do like picniks skin smoothing function.
Here I have the light coming in from the side of her face. A little hard to get the correct exposure but I like it :)
The Sabo bunny is for Gabbi! :D i wanted to do something for her since she's so nice to me :D! hope she likes it!
I so love the evening light. It is my preference to do all my photo shoots in the evening. I got this shot of Gabbi last night. This was the first shot with my 50mm 1.4. I took this about 1.5 hours before the sunset. The light is so pretty! I have a photo shoot tonight with 3 girls. Ages 18, 13 and 8. I would love it if you could attached a link to some examples that might help me with the group shots of the girls. I am a bit at a loss since they are older. I am not a fan of overly posed shots either (as you probably know :-)
Edited to add that I think it is definitely the 60mm macro.. It is not meant to be a portrait lens.. no doubt about that. I took about 10 shots of Gabbi last night with the 50mm 1.4 and every single one the focus was spot on.
Happy Tuesday everyone!! Yesterday I got a message letting me know that Gabbi and I had been chosen as a mother/daughter, photographer/model team by a very talented lady who is writing a sewing book. She needed a few teams to model and photograph her clothing. The clothes are gorgeous boutique quality! So Gabbi will be photographed by me in the clothes and those pictures will appear in the book with credit to her and me and a link to my website.. plus Gabbi gets to keep these gorgeous outfits! I will post more info once I get it!
So yesterday I went out with the kids to the park. I wanted to practice taking some pictures of Gabbi since I have three photoshoots this weekend and one of them is a two year old girl. I was paying attention to Gabbi (not my other kids) when I realized that Zander was out of my sight. I called him and looked up and saw him flying down a steep hill on his skateboard (I must insert here that Zander is only 5). He had no helmet or protective gear of any kind. Just as I looked up, he fell.. face first on the pavement. Omgosh was he badly scraped up. I know it looked worse then it was but his nose is all swollen, fat lip, looks like he was in a fight. My poor little guy. He seems fine now. So needless to say I only got a couple pictures of Gabbi.
And lastly (wow I am going on this morning) I have to send a big huge thank you to Megan and Melanie. Flickr doesn't tell you when you when you receive a testimonial and yesterday I happen to check and I had two from these lovely ladies!!! I cannot get over it sometimes.. that people are writing these nice things about me. That my pictures are winning contests and being chosen for books (well I am sure that is because Gabbi is so gosh darn cute :-)
Anyways I've rambled on long enough and if you are still with me.. thank you for being great flickr friends!!
