Having crossed Cayuga Lake, the longest of the 11 lakes in the Finger Lakes Region, on a causeway Finger Lakes train GS-2 now briefly follows the eastern shore of the lake as it comes through Cayuga, NY. The trio of New York Central inspired GP38-2s on the point of GS-2 hint at the line’s heritage. The train is traversing the former NYC’s Auburn Road, which ran from Solvay to Pittsford. The Auburn Road east out of Geneva is the railroad’s outlet to CSX at Solvay, where this GS-2 is headed.
