I think that this map could be of some help in case you may want to plan your trip to Iceland by yourself.
We covered about 2966 km in 3 weeks.
If you have questions about how we organized our trip, don't hesitate to ask.
We are considering simplifying our GPS track and waypoints, in order to make it available for your GPS device. So stay tuned, since I am going to update this post!
In the mean time I suggest you to give a look to my icelandic photographic set:
Maps from Google.
I'm interested in geoglyphs and saw an article on GPS-generated geoglyphs recently. As such I upped sticks and went to a nearby upland area and started to 'write' or 'draw' on the landscape with GPS tracking. It's only a light hearted experiment but I find it interesting to draw and yet make no lasting damage or disturbance to the immediate environment. This is a screenshot from Google Earth showing the GPS trails and my intervention..
GPS track log of roads ridden during our 43 day Whispering Giant Motorcycle Tour in 2015. Total miles ridden on tour was 19,435.

This map (MapSource) shows most of the provincial park (green). The GPS track of our route breaks down to about 72 km leisurely paddled and 15 km hiked plus ~4 km portaged over four days. Very fair weather allowed us to cross some of the more exposed waters.
For those planning to do some paddling and camping in the park, I recommend this map. More virtuous explorers might not approve of our use of a GPS to navigate through the sometimes confusing archipelago, but we loved it.

GPS Tracking - American Corrections Specialists is the leading solution for electronic monitoring. Our company has revolutionized the industry by continually improving the methods of tracking individuals in the corrections industry. Home detention using electronic monitoring has been a suitable alternative to incarceration for several years. The cost of electronic monitoring is substantially lower than keeping individuals behind bars. The monitoring program allows non-violent, pre-trial, and short term sentencing inmates to remain under supervision while in the community.

GPS track of my drive last night. It was amazing to me how little wildlife I saw. A few marmots, some hawks and song birds, but not a single deer, bear, or any other large mammal other than cows and horses.
GPS by Magnus. shows how close we came to Bute inlet at the other side of the Icefield. thats the Pacific ocean! I think a traverse would be reasonable starting with a float plane on the coast. just have to figure out the car drop, lol.
started up a ridge on the North side of 9 Mile Creek. avoided any creek crossings, big bonus. not so much snow on the South facing aspects. made a whopping 1.6km as the crow flies our first day. camped on the snow everyday which was nice.
up and down a bit as we traveled along glaciers and down steep cols. a few tricky boot packs down some gullys and rock bands made easier by 25cm of fresh snow on our 2nd day. covered up the icy bits and offered some padding in case we fell.
got to spend 2 nights on the Homathko Icefield, yeah :))
magical place, heightened by the difficulties in reaching it. pondered the NOLS trips who get to spend a month up here for mountaineering instructions, mmm. so much potential.
the peaks on the Icefield were somewhat technical, but there were enough walkups to keep anybody busy for a while. dont forget your zinc oxide. towards the end, the beef jerky seemed extra hot until we realized all of our tongues were a bit sunburned.
decided on the lower route out along Deschamps Creek. the alternative was a higher route along glaciers up and down a bit further South. there was an awesome view of the route at our last alpine camp spot. it was so tempting to strap the skins on again and keep above the treeline, but our timeline was getting short and the route was unproven.
heck of a ski out. started off a roller coaster ride along the snow covered creek. lots of wildlife tracks in the snow: cougar, wolf, snow rabbit, bear. fascinating watching the forest change as our elevation decreased and travel slowed. we'll never look at skiing the trees the same way again!

I loaned Will my GiSTEQ GPS logger while he was visiting. I didn't realize he had it on during this fishing trip until I dumped the GPS track file for him. It was a happy accident as it allows us to see and document the disaster.
- We booked a salmon fishing charter with Jerry, but at the last minute Jerry told the charter company to send us out with his brother Jack.
- Jack had a 22' foot Hewescraft with a soft top and a single 90 H.P. outboard. We should have never even stepped foot on it but we wanted to fish. His boat was too small and underpowered to take 4 people, plus himself, out into the weather and heavy chop in the Sound that day. Hell, it was probably underpowered to take the 4 of us out on a clear day.
- Jack told us he wasn't much of a fisherman, but his plan was to follow his brother to good fishing.
- He couldn't keep his boat on step without running at full throttle. As a result, before we even reached Pigot Point he was talking about not having enough fuel on board and needing to get some gas from his brother to be able to get back.
- Just past Pigot Point he realizes he may not be able to reach his brother and so he decides to take us somewhere closer to fish.
- Shortly after changing course, we point out that he has an oil leak and most of the deck is covered in green oil. He has us mop up most of the oil, then scrub the deck with soap and then wash it into the bilge to be pumped into the Sound. While we're doing this, we're drifting in circles near the NOAA weather buoy.
- He later asked Will to delete the video he had of the oil spill because he didn't want to risk getting a fine from the Coast Guard. Uncharacteristically Will deleted the video.
- When we get back underway after the oil spill we're heading in the opposite direction we should be and we run for over a mile before Jack realizes it.
- Jack decides to take us to a another, even closer place to fish - the hatchery on Esther Island - because fuel is even more of an issue now and the chop is getting much heavier.
- While running towards Esther Island we encounter some large waves and we nose into one that goes over the entire boat. At this point Jack turns around and heads back to Whittier.
- After retracing our path back towards Whittier, Jack goes into Shotgun Cove and ties us to the old mooring buoy to fish. He claims this is a great spot because a commercial shrimper just cleaned 52,000 pounds of shrimp here the week before. He claims there will be some monster halibut there. * cough * cought * BULLSHIT! He really just wanted us to get our hooks wet so that he could say we fished and get paid.
- Will caught a sculpin. The rest of us caught the same Pacific cod three of four times. Anytime no one was looking at a rod Jack would yell "Hey, you've got a bite on that rod there!" to try to fool us into thinking there were really fish there.
- After standing in the rain and drowning bait for about an hour we finally headed back to Whittier.
