This is An 11-foot horticultural muskox gifted to the city of Yellowknife by Québec. The community had a contest to determine a name for the muskox and The monument was christened “Elon Muskox” in a naming competition somehow won by a Florida resident. The second place name in the contest was Bob. This created a little bit of criticism as many thought the monument should have been named after a local northerner.

Give me your laughter as a gift,
Teach me to dream
With just a caress
I lose myself in this sea
Give me your star,
the one that lights up this night
full of peace and harmony,
and I will hand my life to you.
Although many of the trails were closed in several parks, we were gifted with this moody view of Mt. Robson as we drove by along the highway. It would have been nice to have the lake in the foreground. However, it was magnificent to see this mountain rise up ahead of us as we drove closer. I was able to wait long enough to get that high peak just visible before it was hidden in the clouds again.
My cousin & I gifted my sweet Mom these gorgeous flowers of Astromeria & Calla Lilies! She really loved them!

Johann Gottfried Zinn (1727-1759) was a gifted and creative physician and botanist. He is best known for his precise and ground-breaking work on the anatomy of the human eye, and two muscle structures in the eye are named for him, the so-called Zonule of Zinn and Zinn's Circles. But he was also a botanist and the first to describe a Zinnia under the Latin descriptive Rudbeckia foliis oppositis. In Mexico whence the plant hails it was called 'mal de ojos', hard on the eyes because of its brightness.
Zinn and great Linnaeus had a lively correspondence. Among the many topics of their mutual interest was the 'movement' of plants such as that of Mimosa pudica. Zinn had experimented with that plant in order to understand its mechanism. Linnaeus had done the same and he expanded his experiments to the opening and closing of flowers. He found that such movement is often governed by the time of day. Thus he allowed for the construction of a so-called Horologium florae, a Flower Clock (1751), with flowers planted in such a way that you could tell time by their opening and closing.
Saddened by Zinn's early death, Linnaeus named the Rudbeckia his friend had so fully described: Zinnia.

A simple translation for my friends who are curious about the words - - -
What is the one thing that drives you crazy?
As if the daily meals are optional, and you never noticed when you fell asleep..
Worry not about the things that you don't have.
You are already gifted.
Caesarea, Israel.
In 31 BCE, after winning the Battle of Actium, Augustus Caesar gifted the town, along with the entire shoreline of Eretz Israel, to Herod. Herod, for his part, named the town for Augustus. He built the city between 22 - 10 BCE, constructing a major port, numerous recreational facilities, bathhouses and temples. The port was built in Ceasarea because of its location in the center of the country, in close proximity to agricultural lands and convenient access routes.

I was recently gifted a bunch of photography things. I just disposed of this charger that was from the 1950's and I'm sure it was quite toxic. Interesting history here:
A photoflash battery is a specialized zinc-carbon battery optimized to provide a high electric current output for a short duration of time, such as required to fire a flashbulb. Service life for this battery in flashlight service was short, since flashlights required a lower but continuous long duration current.
Photoflash cells were in production during the flashbulb era, and were slowly phased out as alkaline cells came into general usage. The photoflash cell was produced as a 1.5 volt size D and size C cell.
The cathode of a zinc-carbon cell is generally made of powdered carbon black, manganese dioxide and electrolyte. The MnO2 to carbon ratios vary between 10:1 and 3:1 for general purpose cells. A 1:1 mixture was used for photoflash batteries. This allowed a high current output with intermittent use, perfect for photoflash use. These cells had reduced capacity compared to those with a higher content of MnO2.
St. Luke’s and Christ Church
Christchurch Street, London, SW3 4AS
The church was consecrated in 1839 due to the expansion of London. Prior to this Chelsea was open countryside. The church was essentially for working class people employed in the many grand houses in the vicinity.
The church was built in the traditional style, The Nave, Aisles and a gallery over the Aisles. It had a large pulpit in the centre but no place for a choir. A bit austere.
The church was designed by Edward Blore a very well-known individual. He designed the main front of Buckingham Palace in 1846.
In 1876 the church was gifted firstly an organ from St Michael, Queenhithe and secondly the pulpit from an unknown city church. Both these were gifts from churches that were demolished due to reconstruction of the City. In 1890 there were alterations, the nave roof was completely rebuilt, and there was further renovation to the supporting pillars between aisles and the nave. Both the west and east ends of the church were extended. Finally the western gallery and most of the old pews were removed. New larger pews were installed.
It has some lovely windows; one particularly is designed from The Creation to honour William Wilberforce and the Earl of Shaftsbury with their efforts to bring social justice into the main stream of life.
Castle Gardens is the most historically significant open space in Lisburn and was once the site of Lisburn Castle, a 17th century fortified manor house, built by the Conway family, the landlords of Lisburn. Upon the death of the last landlord, Sir Richard Wallace, and later his wife, Lady Wallace, the Gardens were gifted to the people of Lisburn by Lady Wallace’s heir, Sir John Murray Scott in 1903.
In 1883, the lure of gold brought the first permanent white settlers, three of whom were James Ramsey, Ben Pearrygin and Guy Waring. Waring stopped at the forks of the Chewuch and Methow rivers in 1891. His family settled into the “Castle”. Although Waring is the acclaimed founding father, the town is named after Theodore Winthrop, a Yale graduate, adventurer/traveler and gifted 19th century author.

I like this photo so much that I wanted to share it. Many thanks to Shawn for taking this picture.
A close friend gifted me slips from her plant a couple of years ago. This is the first time it has bloomed. She has since passed away and would be happy to see that it is blooming.

April 26, 2022. Kyiv pulls down Soviet-era monument symbolising Russian-Ukrainian friendship.
“This monument... symbolised friendship between Ukrainian and Russian nations. We now see what this 'friendship' is - destruction of Ukrainian cities, ruining the lives of Ukrainians, killing tens of thousands of peaceful people. I am convinced such a monument has an entirely different meaning now," Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said.
As Russian forces continue to ravage Ukraine, the city of Kyiv dismantled a 30-foot-tall statue dedicated to “Soviet friendship” on April 26. The Soviet government gifted the three-part sculpture — consisting of a titanium arch, a bronze statue, and a granite steel statue — to the Ukrainian capital in 1982.
The statue depicts a Ukrainian worker and a Russian worker holding up the Soviet Order of Friendship of Peoples, a medal the Russian government awarded to individuals and groups for strengthening ties between ethnic and geographic groups within the USSR (a version still exists today). City officials first tore down one of the bronze heads, and then the entire monument was removed with a crane.
She can't walk anymore without the aid of a walking stick, but this gray-haired 91-year-old lady still has an amazing good memory.
For one thing, she still remembers the first name of my deceased mother whom she last met 60 years ago.
I was then just a little boy, so I can't recall an instant having seen her at our place of abode when she went there to pay to my mother her husband's rent for the use of a piece of farm lot. She started talking to me, however, after a young relative of hers mentioned my family name within her hearing distance, and this was when I paid a first visit to her son at his home today.
I was totally surprised when she asked me, "How's Ate Rosie?" ("Ate," a Pilipino word, is a common title of respect for an older sister, but is also used for other older non-relative woman.) In answer, I said that my mother has passed away already a decade ago at the age of 84 years old.

Bodnant Garden, Conwy.
Bodnant Garden, Autumn.
Bodnant Garden (Welsh: Gardd Bodnant) is a National Trust property near Tal-y-Cafn, in the county borough of Conwy, Wales, situated overlooking the Conwy Valley towards the Carneddau range of mountains. Founded in 1874 and developed by five generations of one family, it was gifted to the care of the National Trust in 1949.
The garden’s founder, Henry Davis Pochin, was a Leicestershire-born Victorian industrial chemist who acquired fame and fortune inventing a process for clarifying rosin used in soap, turning it from the traditional brown to white. He became a successful businessman, mayor and JP. Pochin bought the Bodnant estate in 1874 and employed Edward Milner, apprentice to Joseph Paxton, to redesign the land around the existing Georgian mansion house, then just lawns and pasture. Together Pochin and Milner relandscaped the hillside and valley, planting American and Asian conifers on the banks of the River Hiraethlyn to create a Pinetum, and reinforcing stream banks to create a woodland and water garden in the valley, in the style of the garden designer of the day William Robinson in his book The Wild Garden. In the upper garden, Pochin and Milner created the Laburnum Arch and glasshouses, to house exotics. Pochin also built The Poem, the family mausoleum in an area of the Shrub Borders.

This statue is huge the plaque tells me that Magnus the viking was gifted to the people of Largs in 2013 by North Ayrshire Council. It was gifted to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Largs. The vikings were defeated at the Battle of Largs in 1263 it was their last raid on Scottish soil.
If houses here are green, I’ll step inside a house.
If bridges here are sound, I’ll walk on solid ground.
If love’s labour’s lost in every age, I’ll gladly lose it here.
If it’s not me, it’s one who is as good as me.
If a word here borders on me, I’ll let it border.
If Bohemia still lies by the sea, I’ll believe in the sea again.
And believing in the sea, thus I can hope for land.
If it’s me, then it’s anyone, for he’s as worthy as me.
I want nothing more for myself. I want to go under.
Under – that means the sea, there I’ll find Bohemia again.
From my grave, I wake in peace.
From deep down I know now, and I’m not lost.
Come here, all you Bohemians, seafarers, dock whores, and ships
unanchored. Don’t you want to be Bohemians, all you Illyrians,
Veronese and Venetians. Play the comedies that make us laugh until we cry.
And err a hundred times,
as I erred and never withstood the trials,
though I did withstand them time after time.
As Bohemia withstood them and one fine day
was released to the sea and now lies by water.
I still border on a word and on another land,
I border, like little else, on everything more and more,
a Bohemian, a wandering minstrel, who has nothing, who
is held by nothing, gifted only at seeing, by a doubtful sea,
the land of my choice.

Leeuwarden op zondag. / Stil op straat. / Zwitserswaltje.
------------------------
This colourful piece was gifted to Leeuwarden by the city of Heerlen and IBA Parkstad. The reason for the present was the ‘places of hope’ exhibition which focuses on the future of the Netherlands and this mural has a beautiful message to present. ‘Memories of green’ is shows memories of playing in nature. The goal is to spread the message for current and future generations, to pay attention to how we treat our environment. Are you interested in this mural? It can be found very close to the city centre at Zwitserswaltje 2D.

Laid to rest today. RIP.
This statue was unveiled by the Queen herself in 2005, on the occasion of the centenary of Saskatchewan becoming a province.
(The horse is ''Burmese'' - a black mare foaled in Saskatchewan, and trained for the RCMP's Musical Ride. Gifted to the Queen after a performance before her at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in 1969, she became the Queen's mount for the annual Trooping of the Colours from then until her (Burmese's) retirement in 1986; she passed away in 1990. The Queen later described Burmese as her favorite among all her horses.)
