For this particular young reader's novel, the color choice gave off an intriguing feeling in relation to the book's title. Although the title does not directly give off what the storyline is specifically about, the illustration and color technique gives the viewer somewhat of an inclination. The dark and medium blotchy blue's suggest something more sad and dreary, maybe even melancholy. This message is further played out by the use of the black shadow-like illustration of the child holding up the jellyfish like a kite. The blue and the black together make the feeling seem very somber and serious. What contrasts very well is the bright yellow type, suggesting the opposite of sad or somberness; happiness. Even the use of white in the jellyfish plays along with this optimism, seeming to be pure or innocent. This could mean something in this sad situation has an optimistic outlook or cheerful and positive side to it all. Overall while the cover of this book has a primarily calm feeling, the colors and illustration make you want to know more on what the book's story is trying to tell.
