Procida is a small island off the coast of Naples. I visited on a day trip from the neighbouring island of Ischia.

The island of Procida can be reached by car ferry and hydrofoil from the ports of Naples, Pozzuoli and the island of Ischia.

There are three ports with the biggest and most important of these being Marina Grande, also called Sancio Cattolico, Facades of different shades of yellow, pink and blue stretch throughout the port.

Over the Marina Grande is the castle where a jail was held until the second half of the 80’s.

It is said that fishermen painted their houses in different colors so that they could recognize them from the sea.

Latin name: Sarcophaga carnaria

Size: Approx 15mm long

Distribution: Found throughout the U.K.

Months seen: All year round. More frequently seen in summer months.

Habitat: Gardens and around buildings

Food: Larvae feed on carrion/dung. Adults feed on just about any liquid they can soak up with their spongy mouthparts

Special features: Flesh-flies have black and gray longitudinal stripes on the thorax and black and white checker markings along the abdomen.

The eggs are laid on rotting carcasses, or dung in some species. The larvae (maggots) reach their full size in just a few days, then burrow into the soil to pupate through the winter. They emerge as adult flies in the summer...."

This is a full-size, UK-built replica of the HMS Endeavour, Captain James Cook's famous vessel. It is a permanent tourist attraction moored in Whitby, North Yorkshire, which was the hometown of the original ship's build and where Cook began his maritime career.

The original Endeavour was built in Whitby in 1764 as a collier ship named the Earl of Pembroke before being purchased by the Royal Navy for Cook's historic voyage of discovery (1768–1771) to the Pacific. The replica was built in 1993 and is permanently docked. Unlike its Australian counterpart, it was never designed to sail or have its own engine; it must be towed if moved. The vessel operates as a floating museum and visitor attraction known as the "Endeavour Experience Whitby". It features interactive displays about life at sea in the 18th century, a café, and a restaurant. The ship was purchased by a new owner in August 2022 and underwent extensive renovations to enhance its appeal as a unique destination for dining and events. It remains a prominent feature of Whitby's harbour.

Some low-res jpgs of a recent project I did for my friend Kat. Overall it was great fun, and a huge learning opportunity. It was also nice to have a graphic design project that didn't revolve around clients, proper logos, and some damned committee.

I'll probably post some higher res versions of the photos when I get some time. Also, check out her website for some more shots and graphics I did. My friend Ændrew is a fast one with the web design. It was awesome to put this thing together in one 4 or 5-hour sitting.

To complete the plug trifecta, here's a cheesy link to my own woefully incomplete webpage (sorry; it's very much a work in progress).

Strobist: Vivitar 285HV through white umbrella close to Kat up high camera left.Blue gelled Vivitar behind the table fired backwards at Kat/the wall. Flashed triggered with Cactus V2s.

This is a full size mannequin from a current exhibit at the Textile Museum at GWU in DC. A friend posted her on Facebook. I'll be in DC in a week and plan to check it out in person.
