Hit L for some starfighter audience participation.
Title taken from 1974 satirical concept album "Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters" by former Hawkwind frontman Robert Calvert (9 March 1944 – 14 August 1988).
The concept was based on the German Air Ministry's purchase of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, colloquially known as the Widowmaker. In German service these planes had a poor safety record, with 270 of almost 635 Luftwaffe Starfighters lost in accidents during the aircraft's time in service, which lasted from the early 1960s until the mid 1980s
Coincidentally the image was created with a 104 LED DLW.

I don't feel fear or panic
And nothing brings me down
I'm an aerospaceage warrior
I can fly sideways through sound
My reflexes and reactions
Are as fast as a machine
I'm the right stuff baby
The right stuff
I'm the right stuff baby
The right stuff
Just watch my trail
When the dial needle flickers
Around mach one or two
And something happens suddenly
I know exactly what to do
My hands move without thinking
And my feet like lightning too
I'm the right stuff baby
The right stuff
The right stuff baby
The right stuff
I never fail
My nerves are made of steel
And my eyes are eagle sharp
And what would freak the average man
Does not affect my heart
Not even if this jinxy jet
Should shake itself apart
'cause I'm the right stuff baby
The right stuff
The right stuff baby
The right stuff
As hard as nails
I never fail
Just watch my trail

The band on Thursday at Paris has a frontman who looked like Bradley Cooper. They play rock songs and the crowd loved it! I fangirled and got a picture :)

Some background information:
Noordwijkerhout is a town in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality has a population of almost 16,000 in 2014 and is located in the bulb growing region (in Dutch: "Duin- en Bollenstreek") of the Netherlands, famed for its tulips. Noordwijkerhout is about 5 kilometers from the North Sea and provides access to the beach and nearby hiking opportunities through the dunes. Just north of town is the Oosterduinse meer (Eastern Dune's Lake) which is used for swimming and windsurfing.
The coastal dunes where Noordwijkerhout is located have been inhabited since prehistoric times. Archaeological digs in the area just north outside of town have found items and implements from before Christ. During the Roman era, this region was inhabited by a Germanic tribe, called Cananefates by the Roman writer Tacitus.
A village originated around a hunting château of local lords in the 13th century. In 1262, Leeuwenhorst Abbey was founded, but it was already knocked down in 1573 in the course of the Reformation. In 1434 the settlement became chief village of the territory of the fiefdom of a lord. Hence, it was also the place of ordinary jurisdiction, which means that death sentences were carried out there. Until the late 19th century Noordwijkerhout’s population lived poorly from a bit farming, fishing and quarrying of lime from dune sand. But at the beginning of the 20th century parts of the dunes were digged off to give place to tulip fields. Subsequently the cultivation of flower bulbs produced apparent wealth.
Today the town of Noordwijkerhout is also known for its wide sandy beaches. Holland’s continuous sandy shore of more than 70 km (about 44 miles) passes the town and attracts tourists from all over Europe.

Back in June 2003, the Manchester entertainment magazine City Life ran a feature asking people to vote for "Manchester's greatest ever frontman". Readers were asked to choose their favourite candidate from the above list of ten (cough) "Mancunians".
Classifying Richard Ashcroft as "Mancunian" is pushing the definition of "Manchester" a bit, but technically Ashcroft's hometown of Wigan is part of "Greater Manchester"...
See the text of issue 489 of City Life for details and also Mark E Smith is reader's greatest Mancunian

THE FRONTMAN IN ACTION.
The Tubes were more of a collective than a band: Fee Waybill (lead vocals), Micheal Cotten (synthesizers), Vince Welnick (keyboards), Rick Anderson (bass), Prairie Prince (drums), Bill Spooner and Roger Steen (both on guitars and backing vocals). A seven-member rock band was already not usual, but even less usual was that a series of support members were added to these who in fact depended on the activity of the project: various co-authors (Michael Evans, Mike Carpenter, multi-instrumentalist Ray Trainer) and an entire theater crew, who followed the band in concert staging a show within a show, developing and taking to the extreme what had been attempted a few years earlier by Alice Cooper with their psychedelic shows.

THE FRONTMAN OF THE GROUP IN ACTION
I'm starting to post the series of slides taken during the concert of the fantastic group "The Tubes" which was held here in Udine back in 1981....(approx....)
I specify immediately that it is a complex practically unknown worldwide but with a great scenic spectacularity. I was lucky enough to attend one of their concerts and immortalize their show in slide.
The quality of the images is what it is but they are a very important testimony especially considering that at that time smartphones didn't exist and there were very few spectators equipped with cameras present in front of the stage.
From what I recall, this shot depicts the lead singer of the Tubes, Fee Waybill, parodying American politicians as they issue empty-mouthed proclamations to the populace.
For those wishing to have more information on this American rock group, there are several sites on the internet that deal with the subject.

SHAUN RYDER: Born in Salford, 1962, frontman and founder member of the Happy Mondays, Shaun Ryder was the potty-mouthed poster boy for rock & roll excess in the late ’80s and early ’90s during the Madchester scene. The film 24 Hour Party People featured the (semi-fictional) story of Shaun Ryder's youth and the life of Happy Mondays whilst signed with Factory Records.

Si tratta del successore di “The Mystery Of Time”.
E non vedo l’ora di tornare on the road e calcare i palchi europei.

The first time I came across the concept of anima and animus, it was, like many things, through the lyric writing of Maynard James Keenan (who you probably know as the frontman in Tool and A Perfect Circle, his solo work as Puscifer or possibly through his winery Caduceus Cellars. He is a multi-talented guy. And yes, my cat Maynard is named after him.) One of Tool's albums is titled Ænima, which includes a song by the same name. That song, that word, caught my interest so I started researching it and discovered the theories of Carl Jung about anima and animus.
I was already a little familiar with Jung's work; I became infatuated with him and Joseph Campbell the first time I stumbled across a book based on their work at the library when I was about 15 or 16. Both of them immediately struck deep chords within me and I was very eager to learn more from them. But until I heard Tool's song, I couldn't have told you what the anima or animus were.
The full explanation is far more detailed than I can go into here, but here is a very boiled-down summary: the anima is the feminine side of every man's soul and the animus is the masculine side of every woman's soul. We all have both masculine and feminine sides to us (and our actual souls are genderless, being a perfect union of the two halves), no matter how we feel or appear externally. Jung's theory is that to achieve a happy, balanced psyche, it is necessary to reconcile both halves within yourself. And you know I love a good self-exploration journey, so I really resonated with this idea! Know that it is ok, normal, and, in fact, extremely healthy for you to embrace both parts of yourself, even if our culture tells us otherwise at times.
I thought this would be an interesting concept to try and portray visually; this concept has been rattling around my brain for several years before I finally found two wonderful models to bring it to life: Travis Weinand, who you'll have seen in my work before, and his girlfriend Gabrielle Hennessey. Since they're both extremely athletic, flexible and able to balance well from the truly impressive amount of yoga they both practice, I knew they'd be able to pull off this tricky pose.
What I wanted to show was the inter-connectedness of these two genders, how they really do complete each other (not in the romantic "you had me at hello" way, but that they genuinely are two sides of the same soul). When they're brought together, embraced, and nurtured, they are far stronger, more spiritual, beautiful and powerful than they were on their own. Wholeness of the soul is something I believe we should all strive for.
Many thanks to Gabrielle and Travis for helping me finally bring this vision to life! They are awesome, both as models and just as people. :)

In 'The Ace of Spades', Motörhead's most famous song, Lemmy Kilminster, the born-to-lose, live-to-win frontman and bassist of the head-banging Metal band, sang: 'I don't want to live forever'. Yet as he told his long-time friend and biographer Mick Wall, 'Actually, I want to go the day before forever. To avoid the rush...'
And just for good measure, the legendary hellraiser added: 'All the hard-living, the drinking, the drugging, the sex, the money, all the bullshit, it was never hard. It was easy. The hard part was not dying from it.'
I guess the hard part for Lemmy was over when he stared down cancer and his sudden death at the ripe old age of 70 at the end of 2015 - but his spirit at least lives on through his mural, with a typical Lemmy-like welcome that graces the entrance above the Solid Rock Cafe on Glasgow's Hope Street.
