Mindfulness, a practice rooted in ancient meditation traditions, is gaining traction in modern society as a powerful tool for mental clarity and well-being. This technique involves maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment through a gentle, nurturing lens.
By fostering a heightened state of consciousness, individuals can break free from the autopilot mode often induced by the fast-paced nature of contemporary life.
Recent studies underscore the myriad benefits of mindfulness, which range from reduced stress and anxiety to improved focus and emotional regulation. Advocates argue that incorporating mindfulness into daily routines can lead to enhanced overall health, promoting a more balanced and fulfilling life.
As the practice continues to garner mainstream attention, its potential as a remedy for the mental health challenges of our time becomes increasingly apparent.
Be in the moment, embrace the calm and just breathe.

This is a photograph of the incorrupt relic of St. Bēssariōn Agathōnitēs (1905–1991) within the main church of Agathōnos Monastery, central Greece. The shot was blessedly taken handheld in the afternoon after oral permission in low-light conditions inside the church without using any flash.
During the conversion of the photograph into black and white the distraction of colors was removed; then I suddenly found out that a subtle light seems to only illuminate the Saint’s relic alone, as if the subtle light were to radiate from within the relic! This extremely unusual (or miraculous) illumination gets more pronounced by applying a blue filter of B&W Photogaphy, so the subtle light must have a bluish hue.
May we have the Saint’s blessing.

A photo of my daughter's best friend. She doesn't think she's pretty. I think she's beautiful. I love this edit. I think it turned out beautifully. Hope you like it.

Capturing the essence of the phrase “pretty in pink,” the Silk Floss Tree easily stands out with its full leafy appearance and its gorgeous delicate flowers. The branches of this tree grow horizontally. The leaves each have about five to seven long leaflets. The real beauty, though, is the tree’s flowers. Each flower is pale and white in the center and then pink on the tips of each petal. The sweet nectar of the flowers is known to draw in monarch butterflies, adding to the loveliness of the tree. The best time to look out for this tree is between February and May, when the flowers are in bloom. The Silk Floss Tree also bears a unique fruit that is actually responsible for its name. The large fruits are brown and white oval-shaped pods that have black seeds inside. What really makes them special is the fluffy exterior, which resembles silk or cotton. While the silky fruit has been used to make stuffing, paper and ropes, the Silk Floss Tree is mostly grown for the aesthetic appeal. These trees are native to South America, specifically Brazil and Argentina. Be careful near these pretty trees, their branches and trunk are known to have sharp thorns and prickles.

i know i've said it before, and you are all probably tired of me repeating myself, but i just love to watch and be a part of mother nature. i love watching her grow and reach toward the sun, reproduce and grow some more. Einstein said it like this: "Joy in looking and comprehending is nature's most beautiful gift." ~ "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better."
This succulent started as a little clipping that has grown into a beautiful plant and given more clippings, that have started new plants. again, this is one of the things i love about photography, we are compelled to look deep, through our lens, and often times get a deeper understanding.
i felt i could almost look into the "unfolding" and see "within" ...

I had a very busy weekend and was out shooting every day - twice yesterday! I stopped at a forest preserve on my way home from a workshop today and walked one of the trails. It was very quiet and peaceful. Just what I needed. The sun was on its way down and I was enjoying seeing all of the foliage with the back lighting. In one of the workshops today, we shot models with natural lighting and we used a combination of reflectors and diffusers. So, I used the white side of a small reflector here to light my face from the strong back lighting. And I really love the flare you get with an iPhone.
I can't believe it's Sunday night already! Have a great week!!

A slightly manipulated picture of The Pinnacles in Western Australia. Are the Rocks actually buried monsters of old? Does "The Gorgon Project" have another agenda? What is there a set of vampire bones! These and more questions will be answered as time passes!
A megacity, full of life,
bursting with spices and delights.
Delicacies of every flavor,
to taste, to enjoy and to savor.
The gateway to asia, so colorful,
the historic architecture, so beautiful.
A city in a constant buzz,
breathing unceasingly like everybody does.
The nights, so alive,
a near endless dive,
with many corners, dirty and filthy,
a dark figure here and there, misty and guilty.
Probably one of many cities, festering from within,
with places of history and places of sin.
Hidden places, small and precious like a jewel,
Just my thoughts ... looking through a window from inside Istanbul.

This Cactus caught my eye while exploring Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. It just seem to have started growing out of a crack in this large rock. Makes me wonder how it got enough water to start growing there and how it gets enough water to continue to survive.
