Docked in Homer, Alaska. 1989.
The R/V Tiĝlax̂ (TEKH-lah - Aleut for eagle) is the research and transportation support vessel for the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service). It was built in 1987, so pretty state of the art when this photo was taken.
The Tiĝlax̂ provided transport for me and a group of researchers to the end of the Aleutian Chain in the summer of 1989.
Kodachrome 25. Minolta SRT.
Potentilla palustris, (aka Marsh Five-finger, Marsh Cinquefoil, Comarum palustre). In pond, Nunivak Island, Summer 1986.
Minolta SRT101, Kodak Tri-X film, scanned negative.
Taken in my girlfriends (later to be Mrs Chalkie) garden. You can see it's the 60's by the shirt LOL ~ look at me 20 years old and not a care in the world! wish I had known then what I know now LOL
Seattle Washington. Early 1980s.
Scan of 8x10 print.
I recently came upon an image posted to Flickr by Seattle Municipal Archives of Pike Place Market fish vendor, ca. 1976 (posted below in comments). I'm thinking my shot (above), made several years later, is of the same place and same gentleman (vendor).
Sand Dollar.
Qallriucet'ar in the Cup'ig Eskimo language.

On my way to our groups 'gig' in the summer of 64. I have no idea why but everyone refered to me as 'Lance' in those days...no rude comments please!!

Sunset Inn, Fairbanks Alaska.
I don't know who the band members were at this point.
Scan of an 8x10 print.
This very unflattering image of Jenny and myself was taken in Trafalgar Square in 1968. Yes, I know we look a couple of 'sights' but this was the swinging sixties LOL This image has great memories for us both, we were on holiday and Jenny had just said 'Yes' to becoming Mrs Chalkie. Thirty nine years on and still very happy but better dressed LOL.
I passed my driving test in 64 and had an old mini van for a while but had this brand new Hillman Imp Van in 66. I needed a van at the time for my work and to carry the group equipment. This went later in 67 for a nice MGB GT
Moms brand new 83 Chevrolet Chevette sitting next to Dads 81 Chevette, Dad used to brag he's got 2 Vette's .. "You've got 2 Corvettes ?" No Chevettes ..lol

My sisters and I in 1974.
You can tell Dad took the picture made sure his 73 Cadillac was in the picture vs Moms Ford wagon.
My Dad's 1977 Plymouth Volare, that car was 3yrs old had the fender recall for rust and I remember when the fender rotted again at the antenna base and fell inside the fender. the car was scrapped at 6ys old because it was riddled with rot, but that old Slant-6 ran like a champ and the a/c was ice cold.
Back in 1968 I took this photo when we visited Windsor Castle on holiday. I had a print taken from the original slide and this is a scanned copy of it. I thought you had all seen enough of me in the 60's and decided it was time for a little 'glamour' LOL
No, I'm not short ! My son is 6'4" This shot was taken of us both by Mrs Chalkie and I thought my lady friends on Flickr might like to see my knees LOL It also proves that we do have sunshine in England in September.
One content, one happy. RIP Tiger Lily. Late 2000.
About the Friday Flashback set: I sent a batch of photos away for scanning and they've come back. I plan to post a couple of photos each Friday to reflect on my past.
At Cheltenham, with Theresa, possibly Andy, Deborah and her friends Carly and Sarah. Spin the bottle, card tricks and some sort of treasure hunt game.
Theresa, Deborah and Chris' hand. Toasting marshmellows whilst camping at Murrindindi. Theresa looks sensibly dressed. Deborah is wearing pyjamas that say "cosy" whilst sitting out in the cold and damp with big black gumboots. I don't get many marshmellows, because I don't want to burn them, so take ages. Late 2000.

Grandpa drew this when he was about 10. Nanny had it framed and hung on her wall, where I got to capture this delightful flash reflection. Extreme pincushioning. Ink on top rubbed off from writing on the back of an adjacent photo.
One of my favourite ever snapshots. What on earth was going on here? Fred, Matthew, Ruth, Katherine. Fred seems to be preparing to dance, and Katherine appears to be in motion. Late 2000.
Taken by my Mum as we sat in the bay window of our house. Karen is obviously interested in what I'm doing. Same awful jumper as a previous shot, and that hairstyle, or lack of....LOL
We found this enormous mushroom on our 47.5 acre property in Sunbury. I was disappointed that we didn't eat it. It looked safe to me.
