Following the recommendation of the American travel writer, Rick Steves, my wife and I had booked a room in the Hôtellerie in advance of our trip. As is commonly the case, Steves’ recommendation proved to be a good one. The place is a renovated monastery with meditative garden areas and simple but pleasant rooms, reasonably priced. It sits high on the hillside about two minutes walk from the cathedral and the windows on its east side open to panoramic views across the the town below. The view here is from our room looking east over the houses along Rue de la Corroirie to the trees lining the Eure River.
