Freedom Convoy 2022 as it passed through Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania on March 4, 2022. The convoy was on its way to Washiington D.C. to protest mask mandates.
Who takes away a man's freedom? None other than his own kin. Born free, man put limits on himself. In fear of his own power or maybe, his genius.
But there is a darker side to the reality of this beverage that we hold in such high esteem. Alcoholism and Alcohol poisoning, Drunkenness, cardiomyopathy, hypertension, hemorrhagic stroke, cardiac arrhythmia, and even sudden death are associated with multiple consumptions a day. too much of a good thing is a bad thing no doubt. So what then is the validity of good in such a drink. It seems that only the french have mastered this usage of drink. For them consumption is only out of ritual, it is formulaic and almost mathematical. A standard serving: no more no less, even to the point of rim stains on the wine glasses form years, if not generations of continual use at the same constant volume.
So what then do we say to such a rigorous use of something that is supposed to be the essence of lifes varities? It almost seems paradoxical, that some families will have the same quantity, quality and variety of wine for their whole life. Out of the 24000 Different varieties of grapes used in wine making that means only 1-5 types of wine will ever grace the pallets of the french men? Where is life's spice then, which is variety? Is it such a cultural staple that one forgets the freedom of exploration?

The Freedom for Hungary Monument in Budapest Park, Toronto.
The monument commemorates those who fought and gave their lives in the 1956 uprising against Soviet control of Hungary. Victor Tolgyesi, the creator, was one of the 37,500 refugees who fled to Canada after Soviet troops marched on Budapest to crush the revolution. It was erected in 1966 to mark the 10th anniversary of the uprising.
