Well-wishers and supporters gathered at the Saskatoon CN Station to await the arrival of the Yinka Dene Alliance Freedom Train to stop the Enbridge dual pipeline to Kitimat and tanker traffic in Douglas Channel.
The 2009 Lenexa Freedom Run was held Friday, July 4th in Historic Old Town Lenexa.
The 5K winners were Clifton Campbell of Laporte, CO with a time of 15:43 and
Kristen Gillespie of Shawnee Mission, KS with a time of 18:12.
The 10K winners were Bret Imgrund of Shawnee Mission, KS with a time of 31:42 and Laura Eakin of Commerce City, CO with a time of 39:15.
The Emancipation and Freedom Monument — designed by Thomas Jay Warren, a sculptor based in Oregon — was unveiled Wednesday on Brown's Island on the James River in downtown Richmond, about 2 miles from where the Lee statue once stood.
It consists of two 12-foot bronze statues of a man and a woman holding an infant who have been newly freed from slavery. The statue's pedestal includes the names, images and stories of 10 Virginians who contributed to the struggle for freedom before and after emancipation, including Dred Scott, whose lawsuit led to the Supreme Court decision that persons of African descent were not U.S. citizens; Nat Turner, who led a successful slave rebellion; and educator Lucy Simms.
Freedom Monument, located in Tahrir Square (Liberation Square) in the centre of Baghdad, is the city's most well-known and well-loved monument.
The monument was created by the sculptor Jewad Selim
The monument was opened in 1961, after the sculptor's death. It consists of 14 bronze castings, representing 25 figures, on a travertine slab, raised 6 metres off the ground. The monument is 10 metres in height and 50 metres long. The figures, which are in bas-relief, are intended to evoke Babylonian, Assyrian and Arab artworks.

The sculpture is a 2.1 scale replica of the Liberty Bell. The bell, which was founded by Petit und Fritsen, weighs 8 tons and has a support structure of post and beam style with two concrete shafts.[1] A plaque rests on the ground in front of the bell that reads:
