There are quite a few of these around our suburbs often in people's front yards but this one is in a public place near a pedestrian crossing on our local railway line. Originally this was much smaller being only a couple of shelves and not well protected but someone has taken it upon themselves to replace it with this larger cabinet with doors.

In Catalonia we have ingrained the habit of giving books. So, like Kings' festivity comes (in my country they are the Magicians Kings and non Santa Claus those in charge of bringing the gifts) and all you have been very good, I advance you my gift:
A wonderful book digitized by the University of Strasbourg and a jewel within reach of who wants to enjoy it.
It is the Natural History of the birds: irons to color without text, carried out by Buffon, Georges-Louis Leclerc in 1770.
They are 505 sheets of those that this magnificent copy of Parrot gray African is only an example.

This cute and colorful cupboard holds books that are free for the taking. This one is in Central Park in downtown Winter Haven but there are others located in public spaces throughout town.
The Traveler Restaurant has been famed for the stop-by for those traveling all over the northeastern United States since the early 1970's. This small town in Connecticut, with a population of nearly a thousand citizens, is best known for this dine-in place, a traveler's icon of dining in, where customers can get three of those free books at a time while you enjoy their good ol' food. A staple for over 45 years, it has appeared in several issues of Yankee magazine, Connecticut Magazine, several newspapers, etc... Several best-selling authors (Mary Higgins Clark, Robert B. Parker, etc...) have dined in there too which makes a remarkable surprise to all in every moment they are seen.
As shown in the picture, this landmark road sign has been up for as long as they were opened, showing signs of wear & rust. Finally, after many years, a new sign was finally replaced in the summer of 2016. The building has also been repainted too, matching the country-style architecture.
I don't mind doing laundry.
This is part of our co-op apartment building's
library where anyone can take or leave a book.
Jewels on the day I got her out of the shelter.
Some people say this picture is a horrible picture, but unfortunately, for so many shelter dogs this is a horrible reality.

And can I just wax poetic here about the free books box? People actually use it, and they use it nicely. And someone is taking care of it. Whoever you are, thank you. And I love that this shot just looks like it comes from an era when people may have used a free books box properly. And I'm glad that era apparently isn't over.
