As an art photograph, this image works through contrast, scale, and visual vocabulary rather than through color alone.
Composition
The large razor clam shell establishes a strong horizontal axis across the frame. Its elongated shape acts almost like a landscape or horizon line. Below it, the two much smaller spiral shells create a secondary focal area that anchors the composition.
The arrangement forms a loose triangle:
* Razor clam shell as the dominant mass.
* Dark patterned shell as the primary visual weight.
* Small spiral shell as a balancing counterpoint.
This triangular structure gives stability while avoiding excessive symmetry.
Visual Relationships
The photograph juxtaposes three fundamentally different geometries:
* Linear form — the razor clam shell.
* Curved, asymmetrical form — the margin shell.
* Perfect spiral — the top shell.
The viewer’s eye moves naturally from the long horizontal shell to the dramatic dark shell and finally to the small spiral.
Color and Tonality
The palette is restrained:
* Cream and pale pinks in the razor shell.
* Rich black, brown, and white in the margin shell.
* Warm reddish-browns in the spiral shell.
Because the background is nearly white, the shells appear almost suspended in space. The dark margin shell becomes the visual center because it possesses the highest contrast.
Texture
The image presents three distinct surface qualities:
* Weathered matte texture of the razor shell.
* Highly polished, reflective surface of the margin shell.
* Fine sculptural spiral texture of the top shell.
These differing textures contribute as much visual interest as the shapes themselves.
Conceptual Reading
The image can be viewed as a study of different solutions to the same biological problem—how mollusks build protective homes.
The shells represent three design strategies:
* Length.
* Curvature.
* Spiral growth.
Seen this way, the photograph becomes less about collecting shells and more about natural form and evolution expressed through geometry.
What Stands Out Most
The strongest artistic element is the relationship between the large pale razor shell and the dark margin shell. The razor shell is quiet and understated; the margin shell is ornate and visually assertive. That tension creates the image’s primary energy.
The small spiral shell serves as a visual “period at the end of the sentence”—a compact geometric form that resolves the composition.
So I had this old Zenith TV. The TV used to work fine, but when I took it to a photoshoot, the proprietary power connector snapped off.
I got bored and made it into a bookshelf. I will put the knobs back on when I have time to modify the old potentiometers. When I have access to some woodworking tools, I will make the front panel into a large door, with a hidden latch so that it can swing out (currently the contents must be accessed from behind) Since the console is sturdy, I am fairly certain I can do it without compromising the structure.
These steampunk goggles were created using welding goggles that I have modified for your wearing pleasure. Wanting these to look like vintage brass goggles, I gold leafed the goggles using faux gold leaf, then riveted on gorgeous vintage-style brass filigrees. Lenses are clear, elastic head band is adjustable.
When Prof. Erstwhile Entwhistle happened upon the wreckage of the Time Machine he was shocked at what he saw. Yes, the beautiful hand-etched brass ribbing was intact, even Lady Matilda Machination's gorgeous and ingenious control panel was present. Many other inspired and well-crafted items for journeying through space and time survived the crash. What puzzled him most however was the lack of human remains. Not a bone, scrap of cloth, hank of hair was present. A chill went up and down his back as all that he found were these time-traveler goggles. It is with much regret that he has entrusted me to put these up for sale with the proceeds earmarked for the repair of his precious mechanism. Let'em eat steam!

This is a new piece I did recently for a group show that I will be a part of titled RECLAIMED at Rivers Edge Gallery in Wyandotte Michigan. The show opens on October 21st and runs through November 18th.

This Victorian-inspired crown is meant to pay homage to Marie Laveau, the iconic and storied Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. Assorted stories swirl around the Voodoo Queen and her gravesite has many visitors.
I constructed the crown out of chandelier parts, a door escutcheon, drawer escutcheons and found objects. The large central piece is an antique door escutcheon. The door knob would have gone where I placed the image of Marie Laveau. The side pieces are also antique drawer escutcheons and would have protected the wood around drawer handles on a bureau or other furniture. The large pointy metal beads that dangle on either side of the image reminded me of the okra so necessary for good gumbo and other Southern specialties. The copper heart and wings with Sterling Silver accents was made by friend and fellow-artist Erika. Finally I added in some bling with the Swarovski crystal fireballs. This piece is signed and dated and is a one-of-a-kind future heirloom.

ADDA's BEST & FAVs of 08- FOUND OBJECT at the TOUR DE FRANCE in LOURDES-
This was way too funny for my mom and I were in LOURDES when the TOUR DE FRANCE went through the town. Of course, with all the hype we have heard over the years, we wanted to check it out.
Well, the sidewalks were filled with folks waiting for hours for the bike race to pass.
HOURS.
..and the bikers zoomed passed so fast...well, it's a race...duh...
it was over in less than 4 minutes...impossible to take good photos....and alot of shuffling and pushing....
These ballons were attached to a pole and became detached and came racing towards us just before the bikers zoomed past.
