The other day, I hopped in my Subaru Forester, wondering where to go for a quick photography outing. Then it hit me—the Forester must go to Forresters! Beach, that is. Not to be confused with Forster from my last photo.
Shame I’m not a lumberjack, or it could’ve been the forester in the Forester going to Forresters, not Forster. A missed opportunity, really.
Thought for the day: Isn’t clapping just repeatedly hitting yourself because you approve of something? 🤔
Thank you for any comments and likes, they are always greatly appreciated!
Waterscape 23/100 in 2025
I like all the different types and colours of rocks at Forresters Beach. Mother nature is quite the artist!
I think I am turning into a beach, but not quite shore ;)
Another Forresters Beach looking north along the beach this time.
A quick fun fact - Giraffes hum to each other at night to make sure their herd stays together. For some reason I find that a nice image, all these giraffes having little hum along. I wonder what they hum? Maybe The Lion Sleeps Tonight? Or if in a more sombre mood, Africa, the one about missing the rain.
Anyway, have a nice day wherever you are whether it's just ending, like here, or beginning, or somewhere in between :)
Beaches of the Central Coast #23 of #49
Thanks for your visit and to everyone who takes the time to comment. They are all greatly appreciated.
A mate & I vowed to explore all 49 beaches nestled along our little stretch of coastline this year. While I've tested the water at a fair wack of them over the years, I'm sure there are still some hidden gems awaiting discovery. So, 2024 is a fresh start to visiting them all. And maybe another couple of dozen or so just to the North ;) I have a spreadsheet ready to go to record important details, like when, how hard it was to get to, difficulty, and was there a pub nearby for a nice counter lunch afterwards ;)
I may have become a bit impatient today and headed off by myself. I was caught between workouts and the sky was filling with some nice-looking clouds, so I seized the opportunity to explore Forresters Beach, a virgin beach for me. And only 20 minutes from home! I was expecting a "busy" beach but was pleasantly surprised by its tranquility and relative emptiness. It is an unpatrolled beach with rocky formations framing each end. I opted for the southern end. As luck would have it, it was low tide, giving me some cool rock shelves to wander around clicking the shutter like my finger had a mind of its own.
As I walked along, I encountered some exciting (to me anyway) sights. I'll try and make it sound more exciting ;) - a tapestry of seaweed sprawled across the sands, clusters of vibrant blue bottles offering me their sting, and pockets of dune flowers adding a pop of color to the coastal landscape. Forresters Beach, I'll be back! The northern end awaits, as does a sunrise. Without a 1-hour time limit.
PS - Not going to visit them in order, that would be a bit too organised for me ;)
Special thanks to Ainsley Forrester (leviiblackk) for modelling for this shot

Love it or hate it another old iconic building leaves the Southend seafront....no more pints will be pulled in the Forrester's.
To be replaced no doubt with flats not many locals could afford or maybe something for the local community.....
Not taking odds on the latter.
The seat of Clan Forrester . Torwood Castle was thought to have been built around 1566 for Sir Alexander Forrester. The Lords Forrester were suppliers of timber to the crown and they were also The heriditary keepers to King James the Thirds royal forrest of Tor Wood . In 1957 a Glasgow Accountant purchased the castle by then a ruin and a labour of love started over the next 40 years he slowly began to restore it single handed and when he passed away he left the castle to the Torwood castle Trust who sofar have failed to live up to the job in hand and the castle will be lost unless action is taken
Exploring old roads in the mountains of Japan. I am posting this shot because it's of my old car. I sold it a few weeks ago and bought a new one (which I haven't received yet). Really enjoyed this Subaru Forrester. Slept in the back a few times and generally had no problems with it. I will miss it.
Cheers for selecting for Explore.
5 Image Panoramic. 5 Exposures per shot.
Accessed here through Spoon Bay where the walk on top here isn't that easy. There's a dividing channel between them both covered with black ice (extremely slippery rock) with about half a meter one can carefully slide over on their butts. A slip would mean a 5 meter fall into the channel.. and I didn't want to go down there..
I spent quite some time before crossing the channel debating on if I should risk it or not. I could see that the view would be well worth it so In the end, I packed up my tripod and camera gear into my bag and slowly crossed. Having experienced black ice before I knew to test many times with footing and hand holds before transferring my weight.
I was fine and got this panoramic and a few others as a reward.
Can you spot the other photographer?
i have never been to the north end of Forresters beach so this morning was a case of lets see what i can find.. i only made it two thirds of the way up and found this rock shelf and that's where i stayed, i missed the pink sky and what a sky it was but never mind am pretty happy with this result..
maybe north Forries tomorrow!!
Nancy Forrester and her birds. Nancy Forrester does parrot, macaw, etc., rescue work in Key West. Taken by Ron.
This is the same image as the previous one, but I wanted to explore one of the comments by Mike Stacey on cropping the left side of the image.
What do you think...?
Headed up to Forresters Beach last Saturday. An amazing beach with many unique structures to shoot! The waves were crashing and the tide was coming in but Forresters was great fun!
Moments like this that i will miss,
for the last three or so years i have been working out at scone through the week and coming home on the weekends, my business has really picked up out there and the misses and i have made the decision to move out to the country, being about three hours from the coast' seascapes like this are going to become very rare occurrence i spose i'll have to start taking photo's of tree's and stuff like that, not much sand or moving water out there besides from the odd flooded creek, though i have been playing around with some textures lately and there are some cool old buildings out there, whether i like it or not the shots that i take are going to change.
The mosaic rock pavement of Forresters beach north of Sydney was so fascinating to explore. As I first found this composition I didn't think I'd get a good photo that evening, since the sunset was in the other direction and the sky was completely covered by grey clouds. But just after the sun had set the sky suddenly began to glow in the east. It was perfect.
Lovely warm morning today. Seas were as flat as a pancake.

A fisherman tries his luck for a couple minutes, maybe he wanted to be in our shots. Forresters Beach at dawn.
This is the first "study" that I have done on one location. I am going to shoot this location over several weeks and try to really get the most out of the location under different lighting, weather, tide conditions.
Why is that lately all the good sunrises and sunsets seem to occur on Monday morning and Monday evening... anybody else noticed that?
I've tried to shoot this location a number of times at dawn and I think every time I'm coming up with very mediocre skies.
Oh well... still nice to get out of bed. This morning while I was standing on the rock point lamenting the lack of good clouds a school of dolphins cruised pass and kind of said good morning (now I know there is a more technical name for a group of dolphins, but I can't remember it.... I know it's a pod of whales.... anyone)?
CALLING ALL LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHERS....

Check out this site to find out what the project is all about and how you can be part of it.
A while ago when Christian was over from Perth for the Ken Duncan rally, we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to head up for a sunrise up at Forresters.
I never get tired of shooting this place. While the tide was a bit low for optimal shooting, we had a lovely sunrise.

Sunrise over Forresters Beach a few days ago.
Last night Kajo and I went out to Forrresters for a bit of light painting. The dusk light turned out to be a lovely setting for Forrestser's gorgeous rock colours.
This is a single exposure, shot through three filters
1) Circular polariser (to try and get those colours in the f/g through the water)
2) 3 stop Singh Ray GND to balance the sky with the f/g
3) 3 stop Lee ND to slow the shutter down and blur out the water a bit more.
