I thought these pincushions looked rather pretty in black and white. They are white anyway. Thank you to all my Flickr friends for your continued support!!

Family, Friends, Cherishing, Blessinga, Being Blessed, Forgiveness, Kindness, Thoughtfulness, Sharing and Caring. Just a few words about Christmas that come to mind for me.

To those my friends in Flickr and Secondlife, Thank you for blessing my life. Thank you for supporting me in some very tough times I've had as of late in RL. Thank you for all you do and all you give.

🎼: That's Christmas to me~ Pentatonix~

The fireplace is burning bright, shining all on me

I see the presents underneath the good old Christmas tree

And I wait all night 'til Santa comes to wake me from my dreams

Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me

I see the children play outside, like angels in the snow

While mom and daddy share a kiss under the mistletoe

And we'll cherish all these simple things wherever we may be

Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me

I've got this Christmas song in my heart (song in my heart)

I've got the candles glowing in the dark (oh)

I'm hanging all the stockings by the Christmas tree

Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me

Oh, why? 'Cause that's Christmas to me

Forgiveness

Makes fools

Of all

Of us

Alone to face

A hostile place

A moment's peace ain't coming

The constant cold

Cracking your bones

The stench of life worth living

The line in the sand ain't drawn for everyone

The flag in your hand don't make you American

Stripping your soul back, be forever young

Forever young

Forever young

Forgiveness

Makes fools

Of all

Of us

Wake up, walk on

You are alone

The world you're in's too heavy

But soak your skin

In love and sin

Falling like confetti

The line in the sand ain't drawn for everyone

The flag in your hand don't make you American

Stripping your soul back, be forever young

Forever young

Forever young

"When you look deeply into your anger, you will see that the person you call your enemy is also suffering. As soon as you see that, the capacity for accepting and having compassion for them is there."

The northern gate of the Seville Cathedral (Catedral de Santa María de la Sede), la Puerta del Perdón (Gate of Forgiveness) shows well the mix of Moorish and Christian elements that make this building such a gem. The gate with its lovely arch was constructed from the Almohad period in the 11th century. After Seville was taken by the Spanish Christians in the 13th century modifications were made to the gate, including the installation of statues of Saints Peter and Paul (on opposite sides) and a depiction of the expulsion of merchants from the temple.

The gate opens into the Patio de las Naranjas (orange trees), originally established by the Moors.

In the background part of the cathedral is shown with its lovely building adornments, including some gnarly gargoyles, stained glass windows, and flying buttresses.

A MOTHER'S LOVE

In silent fields I feel your hand resting gently within my own

in still waters I see your face reflecting all the love you feel

on solid bridges I feel your strength supporting me

in lichen curled and yellowed by the test of time

I feel your warmth like the sun has kissed my skin

in the fences of the fields I feel no division

I can climb the tallest fence; climb the highest tree

reach up my arms outstretched and touch the heavens

shed tears of joy as golden as the Autumn leaves

The hand that first held mine when I was just a child

was filled with my Mother's love

and though the loss of her will always be so keenly felt

as the cold November wind blows straight through me

and bends me to kneel so gently at my Mother's knee

still I feel her presence and see her face

in everything I do and say

and she is with me now; watching with a mother's grace

and directing me towards the right thing I should do

walking into light from dark shadows

my eyes had grown accustomed to the dark

but now they are all-seeing and I am all-knowing

that no-one can harm me all the while I walk my chosen path

of truth; of goodness and feel the solid ground beneath my feet

no-one can break me all the while

I bend with the wind and not against it

I walk the path that feels best beneath my feet

and I am comfortable within my own skin

and those that seek to harm me

will one day see that what they do is their karma

and with all the goodness my heart can muster

I pray for them and forgive their words that try to cut me down

I stand so tall within the protection of my Mother's eternal love

that bridges all eternity and keeps me safe

within the circle of her ever loving arms.

Sometimes you make me so mad that I want to throw you in the middle of on-going cars.

But then I realize, I would probably kill myself just to save you…

...is like the scent of a flower that clings to heel of the boot that crushed it.

The moment will undoubtedly come on the paltry human scale, so why delay forgiving? I know that it is difficult, I also know that it is impossible and that, finally, it is always a sham. If I have to, I deliberately choose this imposture, if it can avoid further immense pain, irreversible more broken lives. We don't have time for pride anymore, we can't even afford it. Be forgiven or die for stubbornly rewriting inert history. Let us forgive ourselves, mourn our dead and write living history.

"Beg for forgiveness..." is what to do if you "happen" to end up in a closed greenhouse because you didn't see the "Closed" sign on the door (....because all you could see were the tulips and hyacinths blooming beyond it...) at the Lyman Conservatory.

But no need this time! This is an exquisite little Fritillaria assyriaca in the "tunnel" in the cold holding room waiting for its debut. (Thanks, Steve!)

There were cars lined up at the conservatory yesterday even though the 2015 Spring Bulb Show doesn't open until Saturday, March 7th. Seems we're all ready for Spring... :)

Loved this so sharing. I have finally freed my soul! 💙

The wishes of the dead

Follow the light of the living

The freedom to breathe

Fights with the need to forgive

The longings of the heart

Can deepen our prayers against anger

But words unsaid and hurts remembered

Battle with our need to let the past go

Forgiveness can be difficult to reach

But the sweet silence of peace

Brings a balm to the soul

And a healing to the hereafter

This simple wooden cross that marks the grave of a vicar of Glynde in Sussex, UK, who passed away in 1965 aged 84, was once a serving officer who joined the 1st Gurkha Rifles seeing service in India and Palestine during the Great War. He was invalided out of the army in 1923 and was eventually ordained at York Minster in England in 1932.

Alexander returned to India as a clergyman, serving as an Army Chaplain in Delhi during the Second World War. On returning to England he became at one time the Vicar of Glynde 1951-55.

The Inscription on the cross reads:

“In memory of Rev Lt Col: A.F. INGLIS. Vicar of Glynde 1951-55 died September 9th 1965 Aged 84 years.

Also his wife Anne 1888-1983.

His ashes, along with those of his wife, are buried under this simple cross in the churchyard at Glynde. He lies here with other war dead of the First World War.

What is so incredibly poignant, is that this memorial cross is carefully looked after, varnished and maintained against the weather, and has been all these years. On the anniversary of his death, there is often a posy of flowers laid at the foot of the cross.

For me, Alexander must have found a way to reconcile what he witnessed while serving as an officer and the forgiveness required as a clergyman. His faith must have been of great solace to him and such understanding that we are all humbled in the face of death meant that all he required was a wooden cross, rather than any other more ornate memorial, at the time of his passing.

To forgive we have to be humble. To be humble is to walk away from war and your pride and begin to truly live.

Never Forget.

Nestled near the sea, where the cliffs of Frogmore Cottage meet the shore, stands a majestic oak tree, its gnarled branches reaching skyward in silent reverence. This ancient sentinel has stood for centuries, perhaps even five hundred years, though time's passage has blurred the exact count, leaving its true age shrouded in mystery. Throughout generations, the tree has borne witness to the ebb and flow of life along the coast, its weathered bark etched with cryptic markings akin to scars from the distant past. Among these enigmatic carvings, some words in particular haunted the imagination of those who chanced upon them: You mocked my tears. These words, etched into the oak's rugged surface, their author, the intended recipient and the tale they held were lost to the depths of time. And, as the salty breeze whispered through the oak's branches and the waves crashed against the rocky shore below, the mystery of the engraved words persisted, weaving its enigmatic story into the fabric of Frogmore's coastal lore.

What nobody in Frogmore Cottage could imagine was that, despite it was a mystery that had been talked about for generations, this was not a concluded story. A fisherman, upon returning at dawn from work at sea, and drawn by an inexplicable urge to explore the weathered trunk, stumbled upon a new revelation: as if a response to the ancient lament, freshly carved into the bark beneath the words of old, now appeared three simple words—I forgive you. Word spread as wildfire in the Cottage, and most saw the appearance of these words as a symbol of redemption, a chance for healing old wounds and bridging the divides of the past. And so, beneath the watchful gaze of the ancient oak, the enigmatic story found a new chapter, one of reconciliation, understanding, and the enduring power of forgiveness to heal the deepest wounds of the heart.
