I was freaked out when a lady came up to me and asked why I was taking a picture of her car... I took a chance and said with a big smile "Well, LOOK AT IT, isn't it obvious?" We then had a fantastic conversation for about the next 15 minutes! She is VERY proud of her 1979 Ford Fiesta (she is the original owner!), and we really bonded over our great love of cute little 1970's and early 1980's cars. We both needed a tissue by the time we got talking about Pintos... I love people, I really do:)
Not really a roof ornament – it just sounded good. And the bird's too small to see, anyway. Oh well.

The Deep Lake (Djupvatnet in Norwegian) got the name because it’s sudden drop in depth that reaches 660 feet down. In this light the drop makes beautiful shades clear as ice. The lake is situated in the mountains east of Geiranger.

Launched in 1976 as a front wheel drive four speed supermini.
Although not the first Ford vehicle to feature front-wheel drive the Fiesta is widely credited as being Ford's first globally successful front-wheel-drive model. UK sales began in January 1977, where it was available from £1,856 for the basic 950 cc-engined model.
The car was available in Europe with a 957 cc (58.4 cu in) I4 (high compression and low compression options) dubbed Valencia after the new Ford plant in Valencia, Spain, 1.1 L and 1.3 L OHV petrol engines and in Base, Popular, L, GL (1978 onward), Ghia and S trim, as well as a van.

Aer Lingus Boeing 747-100 'EI-ASI' taxies out to runway 10 at Dublin.
This spot on the R108 is always a popular spot to engage in a bit of plane spotting. Nothing can quite reach the excitement of a 'jumbo' , the vast bulk of the behemoth dominates everything in its catchment area and is guaranteed to raise the excitement a little!
Sadly the based Aer Lingus 747s are no more,and the aircraft type is seldom seen these days.

Van dit merk had ik nog niet eerder gehoord: Panther. Een Britse roadster die qua vormgeving aardig wat wegheeft van een Morgan. Hij is gebouwd van 1982 tot in 1993. Bijzonder overigens is dat het Zuid-Koreaanse merk SsangYong, tegenwoordig alleen nog maar een SUV-bouwer, Panther Westwinds overnam in 1987 na een faillissement en een overname door een Koreaanse partij. SsangYong startte een nieuwe fabriek in Essex, maar deze werd in 1990 alweer gesloten. De productie verhuisde naar Zuid-Korea en daar werd de naam in de laatste periode van het model ook veranderd naar SsangYong Kallista. Overigens werden er maar 78 stuks geproduceerd onder de naam SsangYong.
Moeilijk voor te stellen dat dit familie is van de latere Rodius en de Actyon.

A remarkable thing to mention is that the South Korean brand SsangYong, nowadays only an SUV builder, took over Panther Westwinds in 1987 after a bankruptcy and a takeover by a Korean party. SsangYong started a new factory in Essex, but they closed it already in 1990. Production moved to South Korea and there the name was also changed to SsangYong Kallista in the last period of the model. Incidentally, only 78 units were produced under the name SsangYong.
Hard to imagine that this is family of the later Rodius and Actyon.

My in-laws financed the purchase of this Ford Fiesta Festival (a loan, not a gift), my first ever "new off the forecourt" car. It was a few years old here - the silver wheel trims had been stolen, and I'd just had it resprayed following an accident. The insurance paid for one side and I paid for the other which was beginning to show signs of rust. I traded it shortly after this was taken. Nice "go fast" stripes!
