Amanita muscaria (flugesopp) a poisonous mushroom in plenty in the Northern Hemisphere said to be consumed by the Viking Berserker to achieve battle rage
Whilst I was hoping for a good shot of the Gannets on my local headland this Rock Pipit was the star of the show - busy feeding it's young. It was lovely to watch. Food seemed quite abundant.
This Gulf Fritillary caterpillar decided that a flower bud is better than leaves for lunch. It made a very nice longitudinal section in that Passionflower bud.
I don't like candy much (except for m&m peanuts!), so this is from the archives. Not sure why I had it, but I remember I held it up to the window to get some of the texture and translucency. HLCoF
Don't see Mother raccoon out during the day often; only when she needs food so she can return to the babies and be able to feed them. When the young ones were old enough to venture out, I saw she had been caring for 4 babies. No wonder she looked so ragged!

Crane birds (বক, সারস) are searching for food when tractor is ploughing the field. Snails, earthworms etc comes out as a result of ploughing. Now is the monsoon season in India when most cultivation occurs. As a result of use of machinery people are loosing job. This has become a great problem in our country.
Thank you all for your comments, faves and support. I do not know why lately there was a sudden growth of interests in my work, so, I am sorry if I do not reply or reciprocate your comments and faves.
Please DO NOT fave my photos in large number. Fave only those photos that you like as I will not return your faves in large number.
Please also note that you may follow me but I may not follow you back as it is very time consuming to have too many friends.
This is the time of the year when many of these little birds are busy feeding cuckoos.
Fortunately this meal was destined for a very noisy pipit chick

Inspired by a favorite Flickr friend, this little fish image required the carpentry skills of my husband, several shopping trips to find sardines, then a proper bit of light in the house. Mind you, Kipp does not like fish so the rubber gloves were in play. In the end, these large (wanted little bitty ones) sardines ended up with the crows - they quickly gobbled them up ;D
The things we do for a photograph! Egads!
Thanks for popping in!

... that's what my grandmother said, as well as my mother and I suggested it to my daughter. Maybe this little mouse would have said it, but she is not able to talk. Nevertheless, I could not resist playing a bit with the food ;-)
INGREDIENTS: a slice of a boiled egg (of which I used six to manufacture a somewhat usable slice), two slices of olive cheese stuffed with cream cheese (that worked right away), as CONDIMENT two peppercorns, a dollop of tomato paste and coarse sea salt (I did not count the pieces, maybe someone wants to do that?) – all draped on an olive wood board. And then the sun has delivered perfect light ... After taking pictures, of course, I have eaten everything properly and well-behaved ;-)

Recipe for the syrup:
2 chancaca pieces
2 cinnamon sticks
6 cloves, 1 fig leaf
2 star anise
pineapple peels
Fig leaf ( That´s the secret ingredient)
Chop chancaca and put in a saucepan with cinnamon sticks, cloves, fig leaf, star anise, pineapple peels, and orange. Cover with water and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the chancaca is dissolved and forms a thick syrup. Strain discarding the solids, cool to room temperature, and put in a jar to have it ready to pour over picarones. You can substitute chancaca with molasses syrup or muscovado sugar.
