The objective of this study was to explore the extraction process and antioxidant activity of polyphenols from Japonica and Indica brown rice. After baking, Japonica and Indica brown rice samples were soaked in water to obtain brown rice tea respectively. We determined the polyphenol content and the antioxidant activity of the brown rice tea, as well as measured the contents of nutrients (including protein, amino acid, and crude cellulose) of the baked brown rice.
The porcine cruor represents a co-product from slaughterhouses. It mainly contains hemoglobin which is rich in bioactive peptides obtained by hydrolysis by porcine pepsin. The aim of this study is to valorize this new source rich of bioactive peptides to be used as feed additives. An in silico study on the potential of porcine cruor to contain bioactive peptides was studied by comparing it with peptides derived from bovine hemoglobin.
Back ground: The basic extracts involved in the formulation of functional foods/nutraceutics must first be the subject of preclinical and clinical trials. The several studies were shown that amino acids extract from black bean seeds (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) have antisickling, antioxidant and anti-haemolitic properties.
The human immune system possesses powerful surveillance functions to find and eliminate tumor cells. Several steps are involved, such as uptake and presentation of tumor antigens by dendritic cells (DCs) in order to activate T cells, trafficking and infiltration of the tumor with T cells and, finally, recognition and killing of tumor cells. Tumor cells release a number of soluble mediators that may disrupt these steps, thereby creating tolerance or immune escape. We previously published data on a rat animal model showing 1, 2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH) to inhibit DCs activation and enhance T regulatory cells (Treg) expression, ultimately inducing colon carcinogenesis.
