Took a trip to the Dubh-lochain Trail where the RSPB have built a tower to watch the local wildlife, there was not a soul about when we visited in May meaning no tourists getting in the way of my shots!
Views of the Saint John River when driving the old route of the Trans Canada Highway always gave us photographic thrills and on to Cape Breton for even more. These days we drive on the new TCH, a four-lane all the way, and we arrive at our destination the quicker. But we miss these views.
The title is a steal from "And Quiet Flows The Don" by Mikhail Sholokhov, the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1965. Written in the early part of the 20th century, it depicts the lives and struggles of the Don Cossacks during WW I, the Russian Revolution, and the Civil War.
This photo is a digital copy of one I took in the early nineties with a Nikon FE with Kodak colour film.

Most azaleas we are familiar with today are descended from Asian shrubs, and were originally cultivated by monks of the Buddhist monasteries. When seeds of the Rhododendron luteum were sent to England from the shores of the Black Sea, it became parent to many azalea hybrids.
Azaleas have been hybridized for hundreds of years. Over 10,000 different azalea plants have been registered or named.

Another image from my first YouTube video. see my previous post of abstract water photography for the link on how I created this image.
At first sight of this structure, I was struck by the hypnotic pattern of parallel lines flowing through space. The contrast between light and dark, combined with the graceful curve, created an almost abstract composition. I chose black and white to emphasize the geometric purity of the design.
Here's a scene from high atop a mountain near the Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland. I like it because it really shows how the glaciers flow and merge like rivers. I've always been into glaciers and rocks and stuff; I used to be a double major in Geophysics and Computer Science. I dropped my double in Geophysics because I had a fight with my moronic professor there at SMU, but even his idiotic prattlings didn't ruin my love of rocks!
Set up in the water below this nice 5 foot drop that is about 50 to 60 feet beyond Delaware Falls there in Ricketts Glen. Liked the view from this "shelf" there as you get a couple nice stairsteps view here but are still nice and close this beauty of a 5 foot drop.
Not nearly as impressive as during night at least as picture - the lava flows in Valle del Bove. But just imagine an unbelievable heat the crushing noise of moving rocks and the whole thing moving next to you. Then you can imagine what I was feeling standing next to this (two) still small lava flows at the east flank of Mt. Etna.

Ice flow covering the East River facing the New York Skyline.
Shot with the Koni-OmegaRapid. February 2015.
Today I went to see a Fredereike's dance recital with a surprise performance that lasted 20 minutes...
Another image from my weekend out in the Gorge test driving the new gear. The wind was strong and the spray was fierce, so it required A LOT of patience to capture this guy! In the end I hand blended three exposures for dynamic range as well as to freeze foliage. It was shot near mid-day which gives it more of a contrasty look than I typically like, but I feel it turned out pretty well regardless.
