Probably my last post for a while, although I might log in from time to time. For some time (maybe one or two months) I fly off to other places. This time with my camper towards Denmark.

There are probably also some birds there, and as long as the holidays do not start yet, there may also be some space and tranquility. I do wish everyone a nice summer (holiday).

The shot here was taken in Arkemheen, a wonderful bird area in the Netherlands, and I found it again since I am cleaning up my pictures.

Thanks for your faves and comments. I am back in the groove at last after my laptop died and I bought a Mac :-)

This is a green-winged teal drake flying at Greenway Park, across the lake from Koll wetlands. Late afternoon, taking advantage of golden hour light.

This American wigeon was about to cross the path at Commonwealth Lake, when a pedestrian approached. So it took flight to hurry across.

In the Portland area, when gulls show up, it indicates that there's stormy weather at the coast, so they come in to shelter. We've been seeing gulls the last several days, and I've heard that there are gale-force winds at the coast. Does make for opportunities to catch these guys in flight!

This Great Blue Heron flew by where I was shooting ducks, and made a fine subject.

tips and tricks...i use M mode camera and here i made a little mistake.F5.6 isnt correct, best choice should be in this case F6.3-F7.1...probably i was looking for something else and i saw this guy.1/4000 is good...of course the wrong F5.6 gave me a better and cleaner background

Going through older pictures (didn't go out today; too hot!) and found this one, taken at Dawson Creek. Female bufflehead in flight.

This young double-crested cormorant was visiting with an adult, then headed up the lake for a different view.

This great blue heron took off from the other side of the lake, then flew right next to us.

Osprey in glide flight looking for a meal

It's worth looking at this enlarged to see the intensity of this bird of preys gaze.

Other photos of this same bird / same flight are in the comments below.

Sunday, the Barn Swallows were active on the lake at Koll wetlands. Got this one preparing to land.

This is another flight shot from Whitaker Ponds.

In case you can't tell what these are, they are dart flights - very well used. I had no idea they were so shredded on the edges, until I got up close with the extension tubes. Yes, we play darts :)

Taken with Jena Pancolar 50mm f1.8 with extension tubes, on a glass board, with sparkly paper and fairy lights in the background.

Taking flight - Captured with a Nikon 810 and a 70/300 @ 300mm I picked up for $200.00 A Good size crop as well ... Near Banff in the mountains , I recommend a prime lens for birds , this was better than I expected to get , but I don't see eagles in range very often in the wild . Or want to spend $ 10,000.00 on a lens ... Im pretty sure these birds rule the sky , I saw one on the Coast of Oregon fly down the coast very high and for miles , never saw its wings move , Amazing !

I tend to struggle with birds in flight, so was quite pleased to capture this one.
