Taken for FlickrFriday's #Summervacations theme.
Taken on a trip up to Vermont. One of my first attempts at a waterfall photo.
For Macro Mondays #redux 2021 theme
Inspired by a combination of my failed first attempt at Vibrant Minimalism and Hole.
Also features: Orange, Tradition and Knot (though the knot has been bokeh-fied), with a slight hint of Circle and possibly Leading Lines, too.
Also, for FlickrFriday's #vibrant theme; a very happy coincidence

Flickrfriday's theme letters ended up in a still life attempt. Holy moly - still life is a challenge! A hazardous water where sailors get lost again and again. Chapeau to all still life photographers here on flickr.
For FlickrFriday's #drop theme
I tried this "drop art" a few weeks ago using a rather random multicoloured background. It worked surprisingly well. I've wanted to try it with text / books to see if it could be effective with words.
This is created by a layer of glycerine drops held above my kindle. The kindle allowed me to increase the size of my text as needed to get a good image. It also meant the text was flat, which might have been tricky with a proper book. Because the text was so large, I did struggle to get any interesting words showing through, but I've certainly proved the point I was trying to.
And, yes, clearly the book on my kindle at the moment is not one of the literary greats. In my defence, I've spent several months struggling with a few Classics - Rudyard Kipling's Kim has taken me about 6 months to get through - so I needed something a bit more light weight and fun.
If anyone's interested, this is Cursed Luck, which is the first in a new series by one of my favourite authors, Kelley Armstrong. So nice to have a book that makes me to want to sit down and read, rather than find an excuse not to! I'm having a bad reading year. I've reduced my Goodreads target for the year from 70 to 50 and I'm going to struggle to get to that...

Inspired by my father-in-law's love of lager: today is my parents-in-law's 50th (Golden) wedding anniversary. Instead of a family meal, we're all celebrating separately. If I know my father-in-law he'll be enjoying a few of these right now...

Survival is very "real" for the Black-capped Chickadee. They live year round in Canada and can survive our summer temperatures that can climb to over +30C and our winter temperatures that can drop down to -40C. They are tough, resilient little birds who are in a constant state of motion in their search for food which makes them tricky to photograph as they rarely sit still. They are delightful visitors to backyard feeders and if you are patient long enough they will even come and sit on your hand for food.

Trees can hug trees, too.

Shot on today's walk in Rushcliffe Country Park. The wooded paths in this park are full of hidden delights - wooden sculptures, a maze constructed from buried tyres and this little row of pollarded trees. It's a delightful place for adults and children. If you're in the Nottingham area , do visit.

Five years ago we were in a MLB game at Fenway Park in its centennial season. For baseball lovers like me, an unforgettable experience keeped in this souvenir.

Season by season the oldest baseball park in USA raise the bar a little bit more and maybe it will be unbeaten for that title for a long long time.

The original purpose of this image was to contribute to FlickrFriday’s theme of the week (in November 2020) on "#remote". This theme was appropriate to illustrate the situation of "lockdown" with all its consequences of physical, sensory and social isolation.
L’objectif initial de cette image était de contribuer au thème de la semaine de FlickrFriday sur «#isolé ». Cette thématique était intéressante pour illustrer la situation de « confinement » avec toutes ses conséquences d’isolement physique, sensoriel et social.
This photo is doing double duty this week: FlickrFriday's theme,(somethinggoldsomethingblue) and 52 Weeks for Dogs. Since I won't have any time the rest of the week, I had to come up with something for both today.
So, Cider and I ventured out in the cold before work this morning. It was -15 F (-26 C) and let me tell you, we both froze our paws! You can see him lifting his paw because of the cold. Nevertheless, the sun was out, all fingers and paws survived, and I was able to get this picture of Cider for the week!
This is a tree with flower-shaped lights. It is supposed to be a christmas decoration, though, in my house, it stays up all year round.
I've tried to capture the lights before but it never quite worked. Today: huge amounts of fun focusing then zooming out to get these light trails. Clearly movement was the missing element.

How can "fun size" be fun when two of them fit in one macro photo? Having a fun-sized Snickers is not enough when I'm not my fun self.

For FlickrFriday's #Melting I recalled an old and favorite album. I hope some of you will see it and comment to that effect. I will add that it isn't as easy as I thought it would be to get some alcohol burning...
Also note that while Adobe is working on updating Camera Raw for my new Nikon Z 6II, I am a little out of my comfort zone and having to work begin to end in the ON1 Photo Raw 2021. It wasn't easy, and I even had to work around a bug that was leaving a hole in one of my layers, but it was there and it worked, and I am very happy for that!
By her supermarket register, looking so fair
I saw a trinket through her hair
And asked her if she'd care
If I photoed her earwear
Just the one, not the pair
For a moment I'd despair
She'd say no and would beware
Like others I asked there
But she said sure, and let me share.
For FlickrFriday's "I Saw Her Standing There" and Macro Mondays' "Trinkets" challenges.
For FlickrFriday's "point of view" challenge I wanted not just an unusual perspective but also a physical point (or multiples thereof). This is an aloe leaf photographed a close range with a wide-angle lens. I liked the angles of the gossimer web (and the wide-angle bokeh).

What looks like tiny characters in a tiny forest are in fact iron filings, held together by a magnet's magnetic field. You can see the "ley lines" of the field by the orientation of the outward linear groups of filings.

Marker ink and a wooden match on white paper. No editing was done except for the signature.
When trying to match a marker color to a subject's color, keep in mind that the ink will be darker on paper than the pen's cap color. You should try a pen with a lighter cap color for a perfect match.

"Trader Joe’s Blue Stilton is a winner—truly. It’s been named 'best Stilton' at the World Cheese Championships."
Sounds like they gave 100% to their 100% authentic English Stilton. I intend to eat 100% of it.

They're seeds... that corn... They make corn... They're corners... That works, right?
I used the flash on this one to enhance the contours of the dish and to bring out the satin and shine of the kernels. I found that flashing at 50% zoom brings out the best contrasts in macro photos, at least for me with the Canon G16.
For #FlickrFriday's "Corner" and Macro Mondays' "Seeds" challenges.
You can't make a cornier pun than this one. But I can, of corn.
