There’s a flicker of mischief in his eyes, a half-hidden laugh that gives him away before he can cover it. It's the kind of expression that only lasts a second, but says everything—confidence, curiosity, and that sweet spot between childhood and growing up.
Around his neck, he wears a carved bone pendant—Māori in its roots, a symbol passed through generations. It grounds him in something deeper, older than the moment itself. The contrast is striking: ancient tradition resting against a modern grin, quiet heritage wrapped in the boldness of youth.
This portrait isn’t just a picture of a boy. It’s the space where laughter pauses, where culture and personality collide, where mischief meets innocence—and everything in between is beautifully, unapologetically real.

Kermit is a sheep at The Merrymac Farm Sanctuary in Charlotte, where they provide abandoned farm animals with permanent, healthy homes where they can live free of abuse or cruelty. They also provide education for the local and broader communities about the well-being of animals. I love the sun glow on his face while he’s eating. He is a wether.

There was something so peaceful about this evening, and this photo really captures it in my eyes: the calm water of the lake, the serenity of the greenery, the pelicans swimming alongside each other as they enjoy the sunset on a warm day… this was taken from my paddle board during an evening float. It seems like we were all enjoying the weather!

The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

So being at university there was this strong pressure to get something published preferably in something well recognised. hmmm... i wonder if this will count? =P
I'm happy with it anyway. It's on the March 2007 edition of What Digital Camera. Nigel, the editor approached me as he was mainly interested at my Twilight picture taken at Bath earlier this year and was doing a write up on flickr in the magazine this month. He's a very nice guy from my brief acquaintance with him.
I know it's probably nothing big to some people but I find it quite significant for myself. I'd still like to thank all those who have inspired me to continue taking pictures and appreciating photography even more. Qisti (my biggest influence in getting this 350D), mom (for your encouragement to just go out and shoot for memories), Soksek (for our never ending gear and technical talks), Diana (for your continuing support and patience when I talk about photography eventhough aperture and shutter-speeds are still foreign terms to you - no matter how many times i talk about it, you still listen, at least try to), all my flickr friends for all your comments, feedback and faves - there's so many to mention but those that come to mind at 1am in the morning (anna, scott, angie, alex, windy, jenny) and to all those whom I still havent mentioned but you know who you are. I very much appreciate the support.
My god, it's just a magazine feature, not a portfolio...but baby steps first for me anyway.
