Something that looks like an electromagnetic coil on a motherboard, or like a Warp core (an interpretation which I prefer, of course), but is an entirely "analog", very simple, everyday stationery item: A stainless steel pen clip that consists of a strong clip to which a flexible spiral that holds most thinner pencils or pens is attached (so it would have worked for last week's theme as well, but it hadn't been on my radar then). For completeness, I've added a blue aluminium Rotring ballpen that, at some point in its desk life, "lost" its clip (it came loose at some point so I decided to remove it). Colour light helpers were the usual suspects, and I've processed the image in DXO, Color Efex, and Analog Efex, with final touches in LR, which seems to be my preferred processing workflow at the moment.
HMM, everyone, I'll catch up with you tonight!

The Comma is a fascinating butterfly. The scalloped edges and cryptic colouring of the wings conceal hibernating adults amongst dead leaves, while the larvae, flecked with brown and white markings, bear close resemblance to bird droppings.
The species has a flexible life cycle, which allows it to capitalize on favourable weather conditions. However, the most remarkable feature of the Comma has been its severe decline in the twentieth century and subsequent comeback. It is now widespread in southern Britain and its range is expanding northwards.

Shirring is created by using elastic thread in the bobbin and all-purpose thread in the needle, while sewing close rows of stitches. The elastic thread evenly gathers the fabric while creating stretch and texture.
The Thyssenkrupp headquarters, also officially known as the “thyssenkrupp Quartier”, is the corporate headquarters of Thyssenkrupp AG in the western quarter of the city of Essen. The quarter is the core of the urban development project Krupp-Gürtel and stands exactly on the ground on which Krupp with the cast steel factory in Essen has its roots. The new office campus is an ensemble of various individual buildings arranged on a “green carpet” with trees, connecting paths and small squares. As the client, it was particularly important to the group that the new buildings could be flexibly adapted to change processes within the company. The costs for the first construction phase of the headquarters are estimated at over 300 million euros.
Building Q1 as the main building of the new campus is placed as a prominent high point on the central water axis, which gives the site its structure. In addition to this and other office buildings, a public day-care center, the Q2 event building, a multi-storey car park and an underground car park are part of the quarter. The urban and architectural design of the campus stands for openness, encounters and communication - within the quarter and to the outside in the neighboring districts.
A possibility for the Macro Mondays theme of flexible. There are three possibilities- now to dither, although I’m leaning toward the silver links bracket with the little red heart bead…..
…..Dithering done- decided on this one bc I haven’t had one with a bit of blue for a couple of weeks.. grin
I must say, I was shocked when I saw how nighttime changes an owl's face. While they become fearsome predators at night, they also become much more adorable to us humans, who have evolved to perceive large eyes as captivating and innocent.
In an effort to find area barred owls, I set out to a local park before sunrise and came upon this Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio) in the dark. This darkness was so inky and thick, in fact, that I could not see if he was in his hole or not, so trained my tripoded camera on the hole, manually focused, and finally saw him in the preview window! Shocked for sure by those massive pupils staring down at me, a frog (which he swallowed greedily prior to this photo and while I watched) in his talons!
Interestingly, owl eyeballs are not balls at all, but so well evolved for night vision that they have elongated into eye cones. For this reason, they cannot move their eyes in their sockets, and have evolved wildly-flexible necks. With their highly acute retinas replete with rods (the light and movement sensing eye bits), there wasn't much room for cones, and so most owls see limited or no color!
For the Macro Monday challenge "Flexible" (June 20th 2022)
My light plastic slinky in rainbow colours .. the biggest problem shooting it was keeping it from snapping back into shape!
Bright sunshine and a polished wooden table helped create the shadows.😊
A size guide shot is in the fist comment field.

"FLEXIBLES" avril 2024
When the tendrils are fresh they are flexible. As they dry, like those in the photo, they become rigid.
For today's theme, I wanted to use an extremely flexible object by choosing "Slinkies" which with their intrinsic movement of great flexibility and beauty are also capable of creating refraction of light and reflections in a kaleidoscope of colours.
