Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, USA

Rehoboth Beach is a city along the Atlantic Ocean in eastern Sussex County, Delaware.

The town of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware often bills itself as The Nation's Summer Capital due to the fact that it is a frequent summer vacation destination for Washington, D.C., residents (121.78 miles / 2 hrs 46 mins from The White House)

Vacationers are drawn for many reasons, including the town's charm, tax free shopping and famous for its beaches, wooden boardwalk, eclectic shops, amusements, and sporting activities

Rehoboth Beach is one of the principal cities of Delaware's rapidly growing Cape Region.

In 2011, the NRDC Natural Resources Defense Council awarded Rehoboth Beach with a 5-Star rating in water quality.

Out of the 30 states with coastline, the Delaware Beaches ranked number one in water quality in 2011.

Rehoboth Beach is also known as one of the mid-Atlantic coast's popular LGBT Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender - gay-friendly getaways because of the large number of gay-owned and operated businesses and because of the gay-frequented stretch of beach near Queen Street, known as Poodle Beach.

Dogfish Head Brewery's original brewpub is located on the town's main strip Rehoboth Avenue.

Rehoboth (Hebrew: רְחוֹבוֹת‎) means "broad spaces." It appears three times in the Old Testament as a place name: a well dug by Isaac (at modern Wadi er-Ruheibeh) (Gen. 26:22), a city on the Euphrates River (Gen. 36:37; 1 Chr. 1:48), and one of the cities of Asshur (Gen. 10:11). Hence the name may have had a special appeal for the religious founders of the city, although the adjacent bay had already borne the name Rehoboth for at least a century before the town was founded.

In September CAMP Rehoboth Community Center / Letters from CAMP magazine hosts an annual Labor Day weekend event called SUNDANCE with an fundraiser auction and dance party at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, gay and lesbian community service organization, originally developed to “Create A More Positive” relationship among all the people of the Rehoboth Beach area.

Each October Rehoboth Beach hosts the Annual Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddlers Festival ( Happy Halloween - The Blessed Samhain Festival - Autumn Holidays Celebration) with a parade, Trick or Treat, and the very popular broom tossing event right at the beach.

With sales of about 200 million copies, “A Tale of Two Cities” is the biggest selling novel in history. It began as weekly installments from April 30, 1859 to November 26, 1859 in Dickens’ literary periodical titled “All the Year Round.” It depicts the plight of the French peasantry demoralized by the French aristocracy in the years leading up to the French revolution, the corresponding brutality demonstrated by the revolutionaries toward the former aristocrats in the early years of the revolution, and many unflattering social parallels with life in London during the same period.

Chapman & Hall published the novel in 8 monthly parts (July – December 1859) and in book form that same year and commissioned Hablot K. Browne [Phiz] to create full page illustrations for the story. It was the last of Dickens’ books to be illustrated by Hablot K. Browne.

Dewey Beach, Delaware, USA

Dewey Beach lies on a small strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and Rehoboth Bay, is about one mile long and two blocks wide. Despite its small size and low year-round population of about 300, it is not uncommon for 30,000 to descend upon the town during summer weekends. Numerous bars and restaurants line Coastal Highway (Delaware Route 1), the town's main street.

The town of Dewey Beach, Delaware is a frequent summer vacation destination for Washington, D.C., residents (121.78 miles / 2 hrs 46 mins from The White House)

Delaware it the second-smallest state in the United States after Rhode Island.

The town hosts the Dewey Beach Music Conference during the last weekend of September. This event began in 2002 and has been a huge draw for unsigned bands from all over the country.

In 2011, the NRDC Natural Resources Defense Council awarded Dewey Beach with a 5-Star rating in water quality.

It is believed that the name was given to Dewey Beach following the 1898 Battle of Manilla (Spanish–American War) when Admiral George Dewey became a national hero.

*please excuse the poor quality of these pics* Taken in the rain the night before Return Day 2017. I'd gone up to Georgetown, Delaware for the evening festivities - there is a parade the following day and music and food on the night before. When I walked around a corner I couldn't believe my eyes as all these cars were lined up on the street.....no one around, just me and the rain and the vehicles. It was as if I'd stumbled onto a movie set and just traveled back in time!

This is my squirrel view of this Checker Marathon from the back. I am really enjoying this little Olympus Pen camera, it makes it fun to take pictures. No post processing, they just come out excellent and the camera gives you a ton of options to experiment with, right in camera!

It appears three times in the Old Testament as a place name: a well dug by Isaac (at modern Wadi er-Ruheibeh) (Gen.
