• First flown in 31 DEC 1938, the Boeing 307 was the first airliner with a pressurized fuselage. It could transport 33 passengers in great comfort and cruise at 6,096 meters (20,000 feet), while maintaining a cabin pressure of 2,438 meters (8,000 feet). The Stratoliner incorporated the wings, tail and engines of the Boeing B-17C bomber.

• This is the only remaining Stratoliner. Only 10 were built, of which 3 operated by Pan Am. This one, "Clipper Flying Cloud", was delivered to Pan Am in March 1940. It was restorted in 2001 but was forced to ditch in Elliott Bay Seattle, and had to be completely restored again in 2002. In August 2003 she made her final cross-country trip to be preserved here at the Udvar-Hazy Museum.Washington - Dulles International (IAD / KIAD) USA - Virginia

Only one of ten ever made and the only one remaining, Pan Am's Clipper Flying Cloud rests in comfort at the Smithsonian. The Boeing 307 is the first pressurized aircraft to be produced. This particular one has an interesting history. On March 28, 2002, she suffered a dramatic crash when she ditched into Elliott Bay in Seattle, WA on what was to be its last flight before retirement to the Smithsonian. As you can see, she was fully restored and flown to the museum where she rests, still in flight ready condition.
